As May 5th approaches ( lockdown extension date in Ireland) , hows about some thinking aloud as to how the IGB could push the reintroduction of racing albeit behind closed doors.
I was at the last meeting at Newbridge and the atmosphere inside was somewhat bizarre. In these extraordinary circumstances, there maybe some extraordinary measures to be taken to facilitate a return to racing.
My suggestion is that the races are run like trials, kenneling should be dropped,
Spray disinfect all vehicles coming to the car park,
Runners arrive on a just in time basis say 15 minutes before the individual race time,
Dogs go singly through a weighing and inspection process, this could be done in open air if needs be, the weigh scales could be outside under a temporary shelter if needs be.
Dogs go straight to traps and loaded 2 by 2
Race in run and watched online
Betting can be telebetting with bookies or online
Owners gather dogs and leave stadium immediately after their individual race

Racing was suspended on 27/2/2001 because of foot and mouth disease, looking back on the form of dogs that ran on Derby final night 2001, it appears some did not trial back before racing after the closure, Extra Dividend and China Deer are examples
