With the suspension of racing in Tasmania due to the Covid19 pandemic an assistance package was offered to participants to help care for dogs whilst racing was suspended.

The catch is its only open to registered trainers not breeders, I understand race dogs in there care need feeding and the assistance package also caters for pups being reared but I personally find it a bit discrimative.

I own dogs that are currently unable to race and like trainers my income stream from racing has temporarily stopped, the majority of the money I win gets reinvested back into rearing so on and so forth.

Im rearing a litter of ten which has now become a little bit harder due to not having a chance of winning some prize money to help supplement the costs.

There is no difference between a trainers pups and my pups being reared and I feel its a slap in the face to breeders who dont train as we are contributing to providing the future racing stock that will keep the industry going.

Not Happy Jan!!

My name is Barbara Cheney alias the troublemaker

JAN
what you are saying is totally correct and I agree with you

I am a person who thinks on her feet and am used to fighting for my rights but in this industry I no longer have the time or money to waste and be treated with disdain

here is a couple of points to consider

1/ lets say both husband and wife or partner live in the same household and both are registered trainers
2/ how many persons have taken on feeding rearing and all the on costs associated to sell one or 2 to assist is difficult and this has been ongoing not just now or associate with covid 19
3/facing reality we are playing the poker machines with our money
there is no rule and never has been but you are having a go to provide racing stock for the future with little consideration for you as a breeder I can relate to what you are saying yes its a slap in the face alright UNFORTUNATELY I CANNOT COMMENT ANY FURTHER
THANK YOU
Barbara Cheney

Racing to return June 13th onwards for all three codes in Tasmania and the announcement of the assistance package to include all registered participants including breeders was a welcome adjustment.

Simon, Just drop your prices on your pups! You'll sell more

Now who owns the " Walla Wuti" dog? Bomber supporter for sure.

Just wish the WHOLE OF THE COUNTRY could/would be on the same page? Like Greyhound racing, the States cannot unite either.
