Back your claims up with some examples please.

Hi Ricki To start with This is not a Anti Post I have been in
Greyhounds since 1970 It just that Now with mainly the Short races
I have noticed some greyhounds which run a good race after a spell are the backed up some times 3 times over the next 7-10 days many of them seem to be racing like tired dogs, I was just putting out my observation of the many races I have been watching lately and my knowledge of human athletic and Greyhound training . You asked for a Example I would prefer a greyhound I trained or Owned to race once a week Say race Monday night then given 2 full days for recovery then check the greyhound for any injury on the morning of the third day hand slip the dog 200mtrs on call up if dog pulls up fine Nominate for the Following Monday this gives you the chance to taper the dog towards its next start.A greyhound will give the signal that it is feeling well in it self by its body actions love to see a greyhound have a full body shake wants to play and run on the morning of its race.

Kevin your post may not be a anti post but will certainly play into their hands here's the thing aldough I understand your post is of good intentions what will it achieve...my guess is bad publicity so I would urge anyone posting on greyhound forums just be aware we are been watched by a certain group who want nothing only to close down the sport!

Hi Brian Good to get some Irish Input I dont think this post can give the anti's any glee, in life everyone has their own opinion I am just expressing my thoughts as others have stated on this post stewards in Victoria are asking Questions to which I hope is happening in all states Trainers can state their reason and Greyhound Racing can show all that is pro-active in all aspect of the sport.

Jamie,
Your post yesterday is spot on -Depends on the dog & distances-Trainers call on a lot of their past experience, understanding of the particular dog, the way each dog presents in its recovery after races of different distances etc etc. & then sometimes owners & some non owners express their views.
They are all correct sometimes & its always good to discuss things.
Cheers

Yes Grant, as you would know some dogs will sleep all the next day after a race, some will be keen to run in the paddock like nothing happened. Some are very lazy in their work, some need to be restrained.

I admit that 8 starts in 28 days is a lot. But I don't know if that is a particular training style of that trainer.
The easy way to tell is go through his kennel and look at the stats. All the info is there.

That sort of research is a must for any owner, if they are truly concerned about the welfare of their dog.
You need to know if your trainer is looking to win races or collect entry fees.

No dog should have 8 starts in 28 days what ever way you look at it what does that do for the dog or for anyone .
