We are being royally screwed in Nsw.
The State Govt. & GRNSW have stolen millions of dollars from Owners & Trainers in the guise of managing racing during the pandemic.
And we all sit around & accept what they are doing in stopping City racing & cancelling all Group & Feature races.(Even at the tracks that are racing)
Are other States doing this---NO
Are other codes in NSW doing this-------NO
Think about it-are we being screwed???????
Gee a bit of honesty & straight shooting would be refreshing.

Spot on Grant a lot of the money was spent to take 9 or 10 smarty pants to maitland due to 2 dogs being put down but there was nothing wrong with the track, how much did this cost?. They put the SAND in that's why the dogs lost there life.

With the lack of breeding over the last 5 years, the CHINA-VIRUS is a blessing in disguise to those in charge...as racing-fields in NSW across all tracks simply can't be fulfilled.
It has given them an excuse to shut down this & shut down that, with the flick of a pen...& with no questions asked.
Things have changed quickly & will stay that way forever.

I don't think it's some big conspiracy.
The revenue the industry makes comes from punting. A large percentage of that comes from the TAB. Due to pubs being shut, the amount of turnover on the tab has fallen through the roof.., meaning less coming back to the industry in ways of prizemoney.
Rather than cut grass roots prizemoney, they've cut the top end. Isn't that what people always whinge about? Only help the top end? Now they've cut some of it you are up in arms?
Lucky that we are still racing in the 1st place yet people still like to kick up a stink.

Sam your explanation doesn't explain why other states & codes dont have to do the same.
This doesn't only affect the top end it also affects the small guy who has a dog a bit above average who is capable of snagging some Wenty & Feature wins.

Thats right Grant, besides Tassie, NSW is not operating like the other States, especially the TBred Code here and interstate. I guess that is your point. According to GRNSW, TAB turnover is down by 50%, but we need to compete like other states and it isnt fair that around 100 dogs miss out on a start per meeting (not week). Regional racing should be opened and monitored. Most regional towns have survived caronavirus, but we need the restrictions; at least for the time being.

Every state is run different, there may be a border between us but there is vast differences in how each business is being run and has been run.
There has been reductions in some VIC prizemoney, not as much as NSW but we have a diff landscape here.
And how many small guys win races at Wenty and Feature wins? probably stuff all... Theyre the ones winning at Dubbo and other country tracks.
You can't tell me you'd rather keep racing at Wenty going and cut the prizemoney for the other tracks down to subsidise that

Sam,
I'm not suggesting it and I don't think anyone else is suggesting to reduce p/m outside Wenty Park. That's what you are inferring from reading comments. It's not whinging or being ungrateful. It's a business conversation that we are having, and we have `flatten the curve' to warrant this discussion, just like discussions on other business areas that other people are having to open their businesses in their towns.
GRNSW is now moving A2 (WP) p/m around some of the traps which is a good idea. It has been done before and well received. I'm suggesting that we open up more regional tracks for more meetings whether or not they are TAB, just to give trainers a chance to race their dogs and see if we can handle it.
It appears that other States are racing as usual and we have to get close to operating our business as usual, but with WP being the exception at this stage or not? We all appreciate the many differences among the States and Territories, but as Grant pointed out, the other States and Territories are conducting City Meetings. It's the same coronavirus? It makes you think.
IMO, it's time to reduce some of the restrictions and then assess how we are going.

Hey Sam,
Here are a few examples of `smaller' kennels and `smaller' trainers winning relatively big races.
Who won last year's Million Dollar Chase (MDC)? Frank Hurst
15 months ago, Ray (Jack) Smith? - won with Feral Franky. Stacy Scruse - won with Pindari Express Troy Donaldson - $40k race I think on MDC Night at WP Clint Kratzman - won with Oh Mickey Terry Jordan - won Group Races with Fernando Blaster Two years ago of Peter Lagogiane - won with Mystic Riot (big time trainer)
No Feature or Group races in NSW robs BIG OWNERS who provide dogs to race at Wenty such as Borda, Hallinan, Wheeler, Barnes, etc. They are still breeding, rearing etc, with less income, but we all appreciate the whole world is on a downturn. VIC, QLD, SA and WA are all racing in their cities, especially the T'Breds (I had to throw it in as a comparison as they currently racing for Group p/m).
Take away the NSW dogs that are racing in Victoria, what sort of effect would it have on Mr Wheeler, Dailly's, Azzopardi, Grenfell, Delbridge, White, etc? Takeaway their big p/m.
Arguably, Victoria doesn't suffer the same amount of political interference as GRNSW appears to.
