Another kick in the guts to country nsw participants. THEy been denied access to city racing and prizemoney.

With hardly any COVID-19 cases west of the blue mountains, the barring of trainers from the central west makes little to no sense. A trip from Bathurst to Wenty wouldnt be any longer than 2.5 hours. About the same as a trip from Newcastle. Put on top of this, that the horses have not had any travel restrictions, grnsw has strict social distance protocol in place & no crowds....I cannot understand the reason to bar certain areas in country nsw.

Can anyone explain?

Dogs need variety Mark. Theyre getting sick of the same track. Just read Jason Mackay remarks the other day.

And tell me... I can travel 6 hours from Armidale to Wenty but not 2.5 hours from Bathurst to Wenty. Makes no sense.

New travel rules in nsw says I can travel anywhere in the state to visit family or friends. So why the travel restrictions on trainers??

Country participants have lost non tab racing...its put pressure on the tab tracks...now if they have a good dog they cant even go to the city mid week or Saturday. If they bring back the group races do they miss out on that too??

They're just trying to control all avenues, Glen, from a possible new outbreak of the China-Virus...should it happen.

The authorities in Qld have been exercising the same reasoning for the past 2 months with all tracks north of Brisbane quarantined to no visitors but their own participants.

These conditions have just been lifted between Bris-Bundy but all other tracks north (Rocky & Townsville) are still quarantined.

I believe in NSW these new conditions will be lifted in a couple of months should the China-Virus curtail.

But with "City Prizemoney" now been offered in regional areas, the words "City Producer" will surely diminish & mean nothing. What was once a selling-point to help sell qualities pups will now need thorough researching by all.... especially the inexperienced new-comer.

If NSW govt has given the green light for ANYONE In NSW to travel ANYWHERE In NSW then that should include greyhounds trainers.

Tell me where Im wrong in my thinking?

There doesn't seem to be a problem with travelling restriction throughout NSW, as long as you don't exceed the maximum number of people allowed.

Cafes and restaurants can have up to 10 patrons seated at any one time.

Public gathering which means a gathering in a park or public place, can not exceed 10 people.

I can only imagine they're following these guidelines.....but I'm no expert on the subject. I'll give you that.

G'day Glenn, yeah mate,it is becoming increasingly frustrating to trainers and owners,a lot of dogs are quite simply not suited to Bathurst or Dubbo, but have very little options,Matt is sending a very promising pup down Mexico way today (that was set for the big maiden at Wenty a couple months back), because of the regional travel restrictions.
Hopefully mate, these restrictions will be lifted sooner than later mate.Another nice run from your'e dog Friday night, ashame about HJP mate.

G'day Glenn,
I emailed Tony Mestrov yesterday about this topic, also why Bathurst & Dubbo have only 1 meeting a week in the month of June, yet Richmond has 7,yes 7,meetings scheduled in a 13 day window. Also if the boxing procecure could be "tweaked " ( 2nd suggestion now ),this time in 3 lines; boxes 1-5-8,followed by;2-7-4,& lastly 3 & 6,this would speed up the process, this process could have all dogs boxed within 30 seconds if done well & still adhere to social distancing.
Glenn,it is time that all participants that are affected to stand up & voice their frustrations & concerns mate,by contacting GRNSW,GWIC & RACING MINISTER regarding this, given the travel restrictions within NSW have been lifted,& more so,if it is work related.
Cheers Glenn.

Agree. 4 lines are way to long for the Greyhounds to be boxed. So is 3 lines, but we have to work with authorities during this epidemic.
1-4-7
2-5-8
3-6
Would definitely work.

G'day Steve, thanks mate,at least you have commonsense mate,at the moment, the current system isn't doing greyhounds any good at all,in fact it is & will be detrimental to them, more so,the dogs that are boxed in 1 & 5.Also ,the "dicking around ploy",is still going on by some trainers/handlers,( the last two lines up ),so implementing this would be a far better & fairer way to do it,but unfortunately, in all honesty i can't see them agreeing to my suggestion.
Cheers mate

Thanks for your comments Daryl. And I agree with all of them 100%.

It seems like complaints fall on deaf ears. I heard Mr Mestrov this morning on sky radio saying the changes were received incredibly well. I know a lot of people who voiced their disapproval.

The boxing procedure is stupid. The horses with jockeys are in the stalls for longer than a trainer is next to another puttingba dog in a box. Its all bullsh@t to be honest. More pressing though is giving country greyhounds a fair go & letting trainers place their dogs where they choose.
In NSW there are around 350 active cases that the authorities know of. That equates to 0.004% of the population.
I am happy with caution being applied but if one area gets 10 tracks to race on and another gets 3....then thats not real fair.

Anyway, lets hope theres a resolution sooner rather than later.

Safe racing.

If you are allowed to go to richmond from Nowra or from richmond to Goulburn you should be allowed to go anywhere we should be back to normal now as long as we still do all the right things at kennelling ect and stay our distance.

So, trainers in zones who dont have access to WP get an opportunity, on a rotational weekly basis, to race their dogs for A2 p/m but not A1? Therefore, trainers not in the zone that receives the A2 p/m that week, are denied the opportunity to race for A1 and A2 p/m regularly?

The phrase "City Winner" means nothing in the State of NSW after all these recent changes this year.

There's now no incentives to race the best, see the best, beat the best or get beaten by the best.

Authorities should simply call all tracks "TAB Tracks", split all prizemoney equal across the board with more money the "Higher the grade".....which gives trainers something to aim for.

They should get rid of Wentworth Park (as much as I hate to say), and program feature & Group races at every TAB Track on a monthly basis.....so the owners, trainers & punters have some sort of incentive.

Thanks Daryl

Ive had a busy few days with other matters so greyhounds have taken a back seat temporarily. I got the news from Matt today & all I can say is that grnsw went off half cocked before they looked at the travel advice from NSW govt. surprising given the fact that they were following their lead.

Anyhow, commonsense has prevailed.
