Ahhh,Michael thanks very much mate,& thanks for starting this thread,a great idea mate,it sure puts a smile not only on my face,but i'm sure a smile on countless others. This has the potential to go on for quite some time. PS, I just remembered another dog called Wooly Wison,the 60s,70s & 80s really were the Golden Era of greyhound Racing in Australia,but i say that without detracting from this wonderful industry that continues today,albeit through very challenging & changing times. Today's racing doesn't come within cooee of yesteryear, Daryl. Not by a long long shot. The dogs, the atmosphere, the personalities, the bookies...all gone, never to return. That's why it's good that those moments are still on film...so those who witnessed them can revisit and for those who wished they did.
We deal with what we have today mate, but gee, give me the days of the Gabba any day! I loved them... The whole ground smelled like a brewery, the bookies took as much as you want, the crowds were huge, the deafening roar as the dogs crossed the line. Aaah, yes, those were the days my friend...

Michael...thanks mate,i didn't stop smiling & laughing watching that,& i don't mind saying,i had a tear in my eyes as well mate listening to Gary's life stories & his comical recollections of his life & times,he really was a wonderful & genuine man.The "yarn" about PA putting him into a lovely,warm therapeutic bath was abslolute gold,ha ha ha ha.,& Wooly Wilson,what a dog!!,just as i remembered him in my waivering memory,thank you so much mate.
I nominate your'e thread as the best so far of 2020,
Maybe Brucie can find something from his memories to show everyone the positive side of him ? , Come on old mate,i know you can Bruce.

Can't agree more mate,also,the pungent smell of that well used folding stuff existing the short pockets of the punters into the leather money bags of the bookies & more times than not ,back into those punters pockets again,which magically seemed to multiply by that time that transpired to the great disappointment & frustration of the " Bagmen ",..the betting ring also seemed warmer,maybe it was the old kerosene heating mixed with those pockets full of profit,. Those hotdogs seemed to taste better & better with each collect ha ha ha.

I remember her well, that was the time I got into the dogs so I recall that period fondly. She was the star stayer, held the record at Wenty from memory, 41.95?
I was fan of Classy Spider, faultless beginner, so many others;

I'm pretty sure Gillian he won the Derby at 16 mths old,then later went on to be quite a good sire,the Mc Donald line from memory,which should be mentioned in relation to this thread; Camden Glider,Gliders Ghost,Peter Glider etc.

Hi Tony Went to school in Sydney( Westfield) a School mate Grand Father race FarraFlash Used to wait and see her races on TV on Sunday morning on free to air Sport Show love watching her Jump then fall back to last at Harold Park the with a couple of hundreds to go she would take off and circle the whole field and run over them in the straight.
