Hi all
As of tomorrow 13th July, the odds & evens boxing procedure returns to ALL NSW racetracks, waaay overdue imo,so now,no more " dick around " ploys to try & gain an advantage on greyhounds that have been standing in the boxes for,at times,up to 2 1/2 minutes before the last 2 go in.Hopefully we don't get hit with new restrictions because of recent spikes with Carno.

I dont mind it at all boxing 2 at a time as i have found it teaches dogs to be more patient IMO and you don't see IMO a lot of scratching at the boxes now so i think its not a bad thing but a different thing and the Dogs are learning to be a lot more patient..

Boxing the Covid way has seen some good some bad experiences

The Red box is no longer the best box
Is that a good or bad thing .

If we look at the UK and the USA way we see a lot of similarities now today in Australia .

2 16.8 16.5
3 14.6 11.8
4 13.7 11.8
5 9.3 9.7

Interesting
6 and 7 boxes look very good ..
It is good to see the red box coming back to the field ..
I would of thought the 8 box would of given more winners considering ..
it will be interesting to see a yearly total ..

Personally i don't mind the slower box times and if you are in Victoria you better be training your young ones to remain still and patient ....

As long as we dont get some Dude walking in front of the boxes waving a flag checking to see if any dog has turned in box scenario then im happy ..

The Covid boxing system definitely affects some dogs, its now a new interference at random. I cant change my dogs habit while waiting, he had it down pat and he had it worked out pretty good for him, now it can work against him. He sways side to side, he was pretty happy to be back at a track where he is very comfortable but the boxing process just took way too long, up with the lids, and upon collecting him from catcher, told he fell while trying to get to the teaser in catching pen. Evident too with sand on his back and thigh. I requested a vet check, the report does not reflect all information, it probably wasnt such a big deal. Although I did think that it was usually commented on when dogs goes up with lids.
Hoping that the wearing of masks would allow Vic to go back to odds and evens, but probably not with the Vic Covid numbers going up.
I know I it is just one dog, but for his welfare I will just have to work him in background only and wait for the normal procedure to return.
