This girl has just won the last at Horsham.

2 years ago she hurt herself at Broken Hill and it looked all over for her. Nine months later she came back for 6 races but didnt really do much, so she was retired.
Then 12 months later, she just looked too fit and ready, so back she went for a trial. Now she's had 3 starts at Horsham for 2 seconds and a win.

Bronwyn and Greg Welsh put so much care into their dogs, it has to be seen to be believed. I know this win will be a very special feeling for Bron. That day at Broken Hill is now forgotten.....
They also had 2 litter sisters of Serene racing today, at 4.5yrs old racing in open class. It's a testament to the way they treat their dogs.

Paid $10 (I took $7.10 fixed.....)

Thank you gentlemen and yes it was a special win. This little girl was so talented in her early career until fractures ruined her chances. She and her two litter sisters have taught us so much as hobby trainers. Its been nerve wracking along with being so so rewarding nursing these old girls along. We hope to stay in the industry a while yet and maybe start with some youngsters when our veterans are finally full time on the couch.
We would love to breed a litter with Serene Machine. Shell never get to show her what her full potential was on the track but maybe her genetics will give us some lovely pups.

Cheers Sandro. Ive been blessed with the dogs Ive got. The old girls have taught me so much about keeping dogs on the track and patience. I also have a dog that I own outright called Black Kruger that you may have heard of - hes racing in SA and has won 9 from 9 at Gawler. He is one of those really sensitive dogs that needs a small kennel with lots of attention - so another learning experience. The trainer I have him with is doing wonders with him.

Yep pretty excited. Very first litter For us and Serena never got to show what she really had after fracturing her Metcarpals but shell be a great broodie. We picked her to breed with over her sister, which we also own, as she has amazing prey drive and would run through a brick wall to chase. So, hopefully her pups will have mums keeness and lovely laidback temperament. Dad needs no introduction - lets hope he passes his great genes on with this brood.

Our first litter!! Last Saturday night our girl Serena gave us 4 beautiful, fat, healthy pups. Two males and two females. Unfortunately she gave everyone a few worries but luckily The Vet Group Warrnambool did an emergency caesarean and got a healthy litter of pups delivered and mum is doing really well. We expected a litter of black pups with mum and dad both being black but no, we got a multi coloured litter. We cant wait to get these babies and mum home to sunny Mildura and look forward to the fun of rearing them. One looks like Grandmum Rustic Reeta so lets hope her strike rate for producing winners continues through her second generation. Big thank you to our trusted Whelpers - good call on Saturday night guys.

Very exciting for you Bron. I know you can't wait to get them home to sunny Mildura but I'm sure the black male prefers windy wet Warrnambool.....he might not make the trip :-)
Would have been nice to get a couple more pups but 4 is easy to manage. And mum has the milkbar open 24/7 so they will be very strong. I think Hooked On Scotch will be a huge success as a sire.

On a side note, the last 3 litters I've whelped have all been ceasers. 3 different sires, implants done at 3 different vets.
I won't be using frozen semen ever again, only fresh. If that means no more breeding then so be it.
Hopefully the sister who's due in 4 weeks changes my mind.

Hmmm! Only time will tell Jamie. Maybe Mother Nature is having the last laugh at our expense $$$. They do a research paper on it one day and well probably come round the full circle as happens in most things. New just isnt always better!
