G'day Graham.
Would love to see those old films. Those dates & tracks were my old stomping grounds as a kid.

Archives in papers on the net can be sourced. Others maybe able to help as I can't remember where to look.

However, these dates below are correct. Cheers, Steve

GOLD CUP
Hts - 10/2/79
Fnl - 17/2/79

NAT DERBY
Quals with 3 to 4 runners were usually held on a Tues/Wed at night. They were the days.
Semi - 24/3/79
Fnl - 31/3/79

FUTURITY
Hts - 3/3/79
Fnl - 10/3/79

Bi-Annual Classic
Hts - 7/4/79
Fnl - 14/4/79

Like yourself Steve, I also would love to see those films, especially the Faturity Heats/Final as my Father and his mate bred, and in turn sold the winner - Baretop Girl as a pup.

Graham, if I can/could get the time, I would probably be able to give you most if not all the detils for the Heats and Finals of the four races Steve put up, but time is pretty much at a premium at present.

Here is a start, anyway.

Wentwoth Park Gold Cup Heat 1
1. Solitary Bomber
2. Sharp Metal
3. Nimble Twinkle
4. My Girl Maxine
5. Little Watta
6. Dainty Sherry
7. Michelle Cherie
8. Miss Lisa Ann

Result: 3, 6, 2 Margins: 1 x 3 Time: 43.07

Wentworth Park Gold Cup Heat 2
1. Sure To Win
2. Brettainly
3. Vermillion
4. Miss Dolly Bird
5. Shalom City
6. Harris Tweed
7. Little Vogue
8. Meager Nell

Result: 3, 2, 8 Margins: 1 x 5 Time: 42.89

Wentworth Park Gold Cup Final
1. Sharp Metal
2. Nimble Twinkle
3. Vermillion
4. Meager Nell
5. My Girl Maxine (scr)
6. Dainty Sherry
7. Harris Tweed
8. Brettainly
9. Solitary Bomber (5)

Result: 2, 6, 7 Margins: 7 x 1 Time: 43.02

Thanks Dave for your effort but I have gone online,at a cost and got all the results for the 40 8mm reels I have, now all I have to do is find out they have not deteriorate to much so as to make them unwatchable.I sent the reel with the Nat Derby semi finals to a Company in Sydney two weeks ago to transfer onto a USB they have posted it back today, here's hoping.

The first date I have is Wentworth Park 27/01/1979 which was Celebrity Hurdle night and I think it includes the foot race but I could be wrong but race 4 on the programme is a greyhound hurdle race which will be interesting to relive.

No problems Graham, hopefully they haven't deteriorated and are still watchable.

If they haven't it would be great if you could upload some of the races somewhere/somehow.

All the best,

Dave

The USB arrived yesterday and the good news is it is watchable so I will have a chat with a few people over the weekend to see what's the best way to enable people to watch it.

I will also get another five meetings put on USB including one from Richmond which has Dusty Tipa running a new track record in a heat of the CANNONBALL and a Bulli meeting at which Sole Force breaks his own track record from what I can remember about the Bulli tapes is that the dogs are hard to pick up along the back because of the poor lighting at the time.

I will also include the Classic Semi's from Harold Park and the Futurity Semi's from Wentworth Park which also includes two heats of the Arnott Spillers Championships over the 722m

Heat One
Miss Dolly Bird
Dusty Ginny
Ben Gurion
Solitary Bomber
Fawn Stiletto
Michele Cherie
Shalom City
Vermillion

Heat Two
Miss Fortune
Falcon Beauty
Brettianly
Nimble Twinkle
Meager Nell
Dainty Dasher
Great Sapphire
Little Vogue

If anybody thinks they had a dog racing around the time and would like me to check it out you can email me the dogs name to,

That's great news Graham. Can't wait to see those grass tracks in action again. They were the golden years.

Uploading it to YOUTUBE will probably be the best & cost-free way to go...but you do what best suits you ;-)
