Some cracking runs on opening night...especially by boom youngsters! All going to plan, going to be some final in a few weeks time ...

Pestana 29.21
Catchmeflying 29.36
Deerjet Sydney 29.39
Glengar Bale (ex Barcia Bale AU) 29.40
Roanna Bess 29.45
Jacks Solution 29.45

Will the long standing record of 29.10 Tyrur Van Gaal go through the series?

I have been following a dog over there recently who i quite like the looks of. Newinn Taylor CLICK HERE I love his breeding.
The fact that ive just recently started following him over there makes sense that hes finally been beaten haha. Anyways i think this fella could possibly get down to 29.3 odd there.
But i have a question that maybe you can answer. Early on his highest rated performances were from the inside but now he is seeded outside and his performances have not got back to the same level
So my question is how do they decide who starts where? I have no idea but my interests in overseas racing is growing and i want to learn more about racing around the world.

Hes a great dog Mitchell...not bad winning your first 12 in a row, culminating in a G1 win. Diffferent tracks can affect the times...even over same distance. Im particularly interested in Glengar Bale (ex Barcia Bale). Have a litter about to go to break in with a very similar pedigree! Hope theyre as good as this bloke...

Some really exciting types. Pestana would have to be a short price to do it, 29.21 with a bad draw and bump. I think Boylesports were giving 5/4 on the record to go.

It is up to the trainer/owner to give his dog a seeding . Wide,Middle or Inside . The grader can intervene at times and make a change but this is seldom. Connections can change seeding after the first round of the derby but cannot change again throughout the competition.

G'day Darren, another great night of heats,i was quite taken by Ballymac Wild's effort, even though his time wasn't as quick as a lot of the other heat winners who found the lead early,he really had to work for his win,a nice tough effort.I am looking forward to the the next round.

Completely agree with you Daryl...it was some run. Already a classic winner...right in the series for sure! And way overs at $34 pre-post. The other overs is Catchmeflying...also at $34. Both look the complete package, regardless where theyre in running!

Yeah both Pestana and Deerjet Sydney sure do spear left at trap rise! At some point theres going to be trouble in a race. Hopefully it doesnt cost them or others a final birth...

Maybe the stewards will step in & ensure they are boxed inside in the Final if they make the final to prevent them causing a lot of grief to others ?, could you imagine if they were boxed middle to wide, there would definately be the potential for 3 or 4 dogs losing there chance before the first turn.

Theyre both just too explosive early. Would nearly guarantee them the Derby if they keep drawing 1 or 2!

Newinn Taylor has drawn a tough one in Pestana. He hasnt really began the best since the break he had. Hopefully he can begin well and make a race of it.
