Greyhound Final Derby Draw

1 Southwood Jet
2 Deerjet Sydney
3 Ballydoyle Valor
4 Wolfe
5 Smurfs Machine (M)
6 Coolavanny Chick (W)

On face value, T1 looks the one to beat. However, the one dog he didnt want on his immediate outside was Sydney...sharpest cutter to rail there is....they could both hamper each other to the bend and open up the race to others...

Yeah, all great sires. Couldnt believe some of the prices put up at the start by Sportsbet...had something on Wolfe at 40, Sydney 51 and Chick 26. But, the race is for T1 to lose...providing he can miss Sydney at the start.

Be great for my old trainer Richard Rees to win with Southwood Jet and emulate his Dad and Grandad in winning the final, but think my current trainer Seamus Cahill might have the answer in Smurfs Machine! good luck to all finalists, home safe.

Just to make History would be unique as it will never happen again should he win,i,m on Wolfe, and our dog Ballydoyle Razor in the Puppy Cup Final and will be there shouting him home.

The winner has quite an in-bred pedigree that might not be so obvious.

A 3x2 cross of Droopys Sporty and Scolari Me Daddy positioned to impact and both are bred on the Droopys Kewell/Top Honcho cross.

A significant 5x4 cross of the famous Aussies Smooth Rumble and Rumble Spirit ... a proven cross, and again positioned to impact.

And, yet another English Derby winner bred on the cross of the famous half brothers Sonic Flight and Larkhill Jo ... although well back in this pedigree.
