Rsaocht Con ireann (RC) / Greyhound Racing Ireland (GRI) has been advised by members of the greyhound community of contact being made by text and phone in recent days from parties claiming to be from other countries and wishing to acquire greyhounds.

The contact focuses on the purchase of greyhounds for transport to countries that do not have appropriate care and welfare arrangements to purchase greyhounds.
It is unclear if these contacts are bona fide.

RC would advise the greyhound community that where doubt exists regarding any such contact that the matter should be made known to An Garda Siochana.

It is the clear policy of RC as outlined in the Code of Practice for the Care and Welfare of the Greyhound not to export greyhounds to any country that does not have an appropriate regulatory environment for the care and welfare of the greyhound.
