Dessy's team lost the last seven (7) games (not five - one before the Rainbow Round, the Rainbow Round and the next five) in a row and he is allegedly blaming the Rainbow Jersey Round for the team's performance that ultimately prevented him from receiving another year on his contract? Wow! That's a bit steep.
He needed to finish his team in the Top 6 to earn another year on his contract. Before the Rainbow Round, I estimated his team to sneak in at 8th. Bred Fittler and Joey Johns at least a month or two before the Rainbow Round, allegedly stated that Manly wouldn't make the Top 8. Well, they were right. It had nothing to do with Tony Mestrov or the Rainbow Round.

The way it turned out they had to win at least 6/7 to make a Top 6 finish. They had no hope after Round 21 and the fruit is in the pudding. Gonski after the Parra game. One could argue Gonski after the Saints and / or Roosters games. They didnt deserve to make the Top 8, just like Souths didnt deserve to be in GF Sure the Rainbow Round had an adverse effect on the outcome and Roosters somewhat toyed with Manly. Those professional players were all back the following week against Parra and couldnt beat them at home.

Your dead right Mark. They couldnt beat time with a stick. Maybe Dessie couldnt see what was happening at training because hes hair was in his eyes. I think they changed the team song to SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW. Anyway theyll be back next year but dont hold much hope for them regardless of where Tony is. Cheers
