Preferential Box Draws

In recent times, I have been putting alot of attention following the introduction of Preferential box draws.

Railers drawn near the fence, middle runners drawn centre of the line and those dogs screaming for the outside fence, drawing wide.

I have looked up stewards reports and seeing a common theme of very little interference especially over the shorts.

It would be interesting to see the overall results, the outcomes to welfare and keeping dogs confident on the track. Consumer confidence would rise as punters wouldn't do that cash as hard due to hard luck at box rise.

Surely it is only a matter of time before they attempt to implement something like this into Australian racing? Which state will take the first leap.

Exactly right Mark, how many dogs cause injury to themselves or other dogs trying to get to there preferred position on the track?

VIC stewards have eliminated interference already at least from the stewards reports, no mention at all bout how many lengths interference costs a dog. If theres no record it must not have happened

Mark,

As much as I would like to see it given a go (even on an experimental basis), plus points aside, I doubt the "financiers" of the industry would fully welcome/condone it ...who knows, I could be totally wrong?

Hayden,

The "reduction" in report content isn't limited solely to Victoria; for whatever reason it seems that there is a " less is more" policy across the country?
