Hi Micheal

They are all different bud , and age (young / first season etc ) depends also .

For me who mainly has bitches , have never really had one that continues on faultlessly like before season started , and they havent run time till 12 weeks after season starts , give or take a week , theyre levels on bloods and calcium can fluctuate also which cause problems you dont want to risk !

My rule is 3 weeks off chasing any form of lures and let them rest , free gallops only every second day . Then start too lift and increase back to a trial once a week ( but travels by herself separate from all others !) on a drag up straight for next 3 weeks which brings you to week 6 .

Then trials on track and runs behind drag for next 4 weeks , she will run 3-6 lengths slower over this complete period , then week 11-12 she will be fit sound and go bang .
To the day

Some will say whatever , keep going etc , each to their own
The above way is the kindest way of looking after her

Good luck

Would putting a bitch on a suppressant after 6-8 weeks after season bring back form quicker because of the hormones in the suppressant

Not a good idea to mess with their cycle, Kerry. See the topic on the main page about race bitches coming into season.
