We were talking the other day and struggling to come up with racing names, we noted the following. Recently there's been some very appropriate and great names like, Wow She's Fast and She's a Pearl. I always loved the names Rapid Journey, Chariot Supreme, Flying Amy and in particular Acacia Ablaze from back in the day. Any other favourite or well named dogs from today or the past?

Had one back in 07 called Upper Dial and trust me she needed it. A rocket 🚀 would have been perfect. Also had another slow one by Soprano Drive whose dam is Essie Ecks Drive which I thought was clever. Cheers

Always remember my first Wenty winner, called by Paul Ambrosoli. As he went to read the breeding City of Sydney, Just The Best x Heart Spark...boy is it well named. The De Costi boys at the Sydney Fish Markets, loved her. Tipping her plenty of times as the De Costis Seafood special for Saturday night at Wenty.

Some faves over the years...

Im Undershot
Sonic Wave
Miners Arms

Tickety Boo

Can't really say why I liked the name, but back in the day when "The" was allowed to be used there was a dog called - THE TECHNICIAN, which I always thought was a decent name.

TRAGIC - Last Train Out x Derailed

I always liked the following

KUNUNURRA (both dog and name)
TANGALOA
CHIEF DINGAAN
PRETTY SHORT
SOLVE THE PUZZLE

Back in the day in Appins early years there was a gun straight track specialist there

His name was CHATEAU FOVEAUX, I just loved how the name rolled off the tongue

I was always intrigued to know if Scissor Queen was innocently named or if it came to mind on a big night out.

There was a trotter years ago running around Bathurst called ANARATTADETOOR. There is a small village just outside of Bathurst called Tarana, read the horses name backwards,,, I can only guess it was ROOTEDATTARANA.

Another dog whose name appealed was EXCEPTIONAL.

He was formerly known as MAX POWER (obviously that name contravened some legality), and whilst he may not have reached the highest of highs, he was an exceptionally fast one turn dog - liked the name, and enjoyed watching him race.

I hope you guys won't mind me joining in but this thread reminded me of some "weird" names my trainers family gave to a litter they bred a few years ago.

Her husband, a smoker, called one "Embassynumberone"

Other names in the litter included "Unwinsmediumdry", "Basket Case", "Quick Exit" and "Not Quite Right"

Not a great name, but a name with a story.

I used to be the rearer for our Syndicate, all our pups used a Diamond prefix. We bred a litter and one of the pups was an escape artist. She was forever finding her way out of the run. When it came to naming the litter the boys asked what she was like, I said she was a $!% of a thing. She hadn't endeared herself at all. When her name came back I asked why they chose Diamond Tulsa. I assumed it was after Tulsa in the USA. They suggested I read her second name backwards.
