How are these ratings worked out?? My dog it's a roo smashed a handy dog at Ipswich over 520 in 30.21 very good time GD rating of 115, His previous best rating was 113 after winning a Grafton 450m in 25.40. I thought about it. what I have seen with some other dogs. I thought he might have rated a couple higher. so happy to find out how these ratings are worked out.
Cheers, Jack.

Does anyone really care about Greyhound Data ratings?

I'll give you the most important stats for It's a Roo

17 Starts - 5-5-3

and most importantly

Prizemoney - $15,510

Grafton TR is 25.01, he ran 25.40 - 0.39 secs outside the record

Ipswich TR is 29.83, he ran 30.21 - 0.38 outside the record

(Previously the TR was 29.97, he would have run 0.24 outside the old TR)

That may be a reason why there isn't much movement in the rating

Maybe Tony needs to explain how the rating systems work. I know a good buyer of pups who will not buy from a bitch who rates under 100, of course, there are other considerations but that's his starting point.

Ripper dog, especially now hes being raced over a suitable distance.
That aside, admin dont need to be shown up like this, imo.
Well, not until theyve had an opportunity to explain the situation.

I recall someone saying the Ratings method was biased towards the Irish/UK system. It's never been a true reflection of a dogs ability. Like I said, the win/placing/loss ratio, the prizemoney and the clock are true indication of a greyhounds ability. If people are using the GD ratings system in Australia to judge a dogs ability they are lazy or stupid.

Good onya mate, I'd be bringing him up in as many threads as I could if I was you too. I know he's been through quite a few trials and tribulations. He's a ripper dog Jack, be proud.

Yes, when Frieda rates 119 and our boy Hurricanes Fury is at 112 theres an anomaly, thered be literally 8 lengths between them, but everyone knows that and yet suddenly its an issue?

Jack,

Aston Dee Bee scored 114 when he won the Melbourne Cup Final and 135 when he ran second in a heat of the Healesville Cup.

She's A Pearl got more points in her maiden win than in her Easter Egg Final win, and so it goes on......

But it is an interesting question you raise.

How does the "system" work; and which dog (anywhere) has the highest all-time rating, and why?

Sandro answered the closest , its done on trecs held already

A dog breaking it over 280 mtr can score over 130 , which is rediculous !

Then u have tracks in comparison with each other over same distances and its also laughable , take your your dogs to the gardens and theyll score up , then to match that score at Richmond its un-achievable

Yes jack it would be nice to have an elite score next to a well earnt run of your ability loaded chaser

But the ratings are wrong and biased all round , sorry

Thanks, Nathan, I just found it intriguing. I used its a roo as an example. Dixie is right but as I said I know one pup buyer that goes straight to the ratings as a starting point and goes no further on checking out the bitchs history, if she doesn't rate above 100. Me I like looking at the bitches bottom line past the 5-gen on Data. this was the reason I purchased IAR when I was a young trainer a while back Bay road queen, National lass were the champion stayers of their time and feature back in the line. Always been a dream of mine to win a Hume cup at the meadows which I was heavily involved with.I know many on here will have their own little ways going about purchasing pups.
Cheers, Jack.

Hi guys, the ratings are only a quick guide. There are too many things that can change on a track to make them completely accurate all of the time i.e. track surface, weather conditions, etc.

I personally would never purchase a dog without seeing him in person if possible, or at least watching all the videos of him racing and fully checking out the rest of the dogs in his litter.
