Yes, good point Paul.

With your experience is there any indication to yourself of which bitch may be the right one in the litter to start breeding with?

Iv found with the line Im using they must have a great temperment very good pets .
If theyre a few in litter with that trait I would breed the one with the best conformation. Also must be able to shine in cost

the cost through rearing with show who has good genitic make up on the inside Im not worried about size or chase as I stated with a bitch that would jump out of 400 mtr box and walk back around to trainer.

And you got group quality dogs out of her. You're doing something right

I don't get the issue some people have with David Brasch. Yes he doesn't really take into account chase/temperament of a sire and does seem to have his favourites he suggests a bit more frequently than some other, but he's super knowledgeable about all things breeding

And the other thing with breeding, I think everyone sees somewhat what they want to see in a sire if they like the dog and make a lot of it up as they go. If it was easy everyone would have superstars litter after litter and never get the litter that's just a hiccup in the scheme of things which even the very best breeders all get

Well its an interesting point raised here ...i can only go on my limited expereince of Brasch recomendations ...ive probably been involved in some way with about 6 different brasch recomendations over the years i think i even paid him once for a design ...all were duds.

So obviously im a bit skeptical ...also to just go on paper and this grand dam with this dam sire over this nick blah blah blah ....it seems to me no account is taken of confirmation or shape of the dog or its temperament etc etc ...which imho are huge factors eg if you put two stocky short legged dogs together even if both could run and it looks good on paper ...you more than likely going to get stocky short leg tanks ...good for the gap program

i do note that on this thread no one much has answered the original question ?

Another important question is how much does he get paid to recomend certain sires are you getting an honest appraisal or a commercial decision...and thats something that you will probabaly never know ?

Btw i was told recently that no one has ever doubled up kinloch brae say 3x3 ...makes me wanna try it could someone explain why Not ?

If you wait long enough someone will tell you David.

Or maybe you won't need to wait long at all.......

Isn't a pedigree analysis just that, to assist the breeder what bloodlines are most compatible with your broodbitch or broodmare

Pedigree matching is just the start of it, it just points out the range of sires that you should be looking at.

Our gene pool is so narrow that, many times, its hard to differentiate between one sire and another, so other factors have to come into play

It really is then up to the breeder to decide what they are looking for in their pups, and which of the recommendations provided is most suitable for the female in terms of temperament, confirmation and racing characteristics

I do my own pedigree analysis and quite a few times I don't pick my top rater on pedigree terms because it won't fit those 3 factors that I have mentioned

Quite a few times I pick a first season unproven sire because I have seen them race and their other characteristics tick my boxes

Even after all that work and effort, you can still breed a litter of duds

This topic was raised and the question was answered ? His litters bred were put up , you only have to look them up to see results

Any pedigree specialists recommendation comes with lack of size ,shape ,temperament etc etc ? Their job is purely to outline any POSSIBLE proven nicks that could assist your brood in speed or strength and or protecting your brood from a possible heavily inbred mating that potentially could be too risky .

All other key components needed for a potentially successful mating are up to the breeder to go and witness and visually see and check all the physical attributes on offer .

Both paper analysis and physical attributes are two entire diff fields of expertise and Ive never heard any pedigree specialist say their way is the ONLY way to go .

Anyone offering the BEST way to perform a mating on this topic needs to start a new thread and fill us all in , list up your past 5 litters and let us pick apart the 4 litters that are in gap and ask how come you can do one litter with success but your other 80% are crud ?

Way off topic

Thank you all for your responses.

I'm purely just an owner these days; the last litter I bred was over 20 years ago but the last pup I bought was about 12 months from GD classifieds.

I have no hidden agenda, I just thought if I knew a little of David's methods it'd help me in my next purchase.

BTW, I've never met DB but I've heard and read nothing but good things about him.

I didn't expect him to come on here and explain himself, I just thought someone might know of some of the litters he's bred so that I could study them to see if there's a common factor.

Nothing more, nothing less.

i don't get why u would need to study litters of HIS?
go through paul wheelers top litters and study them, i'm sure you will learn plenty.

and for whoever mentioned it, how can he take into account of the sires or broodbitch temperament etc if he's never even spent time with them?

As some have mentioned on this thread DB gives you a recommendation on what dams have had clicks with certain sire lines.
Sounds like too many basing decisions on this, which is a recipe for disaster. The big downfall with alot of matings these days is certain sire lines are not 100% chasers. This being the case, 'everything becomes null & void'. Especially if bitch not 100%.
