Unsafe? It has just had redevelopment & therefore re-turfed, as I understand it.

Two injuries first two races. Stewards did the right thing.

I read on RQL website Bundy not racing for 2 weeks. Hope trainers are going to be compensated, as their still got to feed their dogs etc on '50/50' prize money. Their the one's "supplying the product".

Let's not forget we lost a couple of races a few weeks ago because the track was a BOG after 6ml. of rain which then saw us lose a meeting due to track maintainence which more than obviously wasn't such a great success. Then Monday of this week the balance of the programme abandoned after 2 races. Now we are notified that we are out for another 2 weeks. Collectively we are going to lose 4 meetings in six weeks. Not bad for a new track which re opened only 6 months ago. If the powers that be after their inspections today aren't asking some serious questions about the ongoing care and maintainence of this new track then they should be and proper action needs to be taken to make sure this does not continue. If we lost races after only 6ml. of rain heaven help us when the wet season comes around.

Sounds like they had the job done on the cheap. God help North Qld tracks when the Q is up & running. As it will be RQL's main focus.

On the Rql website stated track closed for 2 weeks to do work on it. Racing only to start again if & when it has been inspected/passed.

I was at track today trialling up the straight, can't see that anything really has been done, perhaps they have addressed the sandy patches visible at last meeting but seemingly nothing else.

Loam was the way to go but that would take some wrangling now, but you never know. The issue from reports has made it to the Minister, whether that is a good or bad thing remains to be seen.

I see the date for racing to resume at Bundy has pushed out to the 23rd of October.

Obviously Rql didn't want to spend much money on the track.

The $1.4 million project included the removal of the previous turf surface, a full renovation of the track levels and cambers, and the laying of new turf, as well as the installation of a new judges and broadcast tower.
Additionally, the works included the installation of a new rail and lure system, new catching pen, new irrigation system, replacement of all fencing, new starts at 531m and 315m and the replacement of boxes, and the installation of new sectional timing system.

The problem is below the turf and no amount of rooting around with sand etc is going to fix it, the water can't penetrate in places, so can't the grass.I walked 10m in front of the 315m boxes the other day and couldn't push a key in easily. There is no blame to be apportioned other than the material underneath the turf is not right and then the management regime of watering and rolling has created a road base not a Greyhound track base.

John, I read that Rql are just looking at certain sections of the track@the corners. From your info the issue track too hard in front of the 300 boxes? Rql on same page?
