money is not the fixer. lack of empty boarding kennels and the novelty of greyhounds as pets is wearing off.
this is a racing industry and trainers cannot have race kennels full of gap type greyhounds.
owners other than breeders or trainers are frightened off by the fact they have to take the greyhound after racing . this will not change.
The industry will slow down as trainers kennels are getting full of gap type greyhounds and owners are not buying pups.

Experienced Rearers & Spellers will not take on a lot of GAP dogs no matter the weekly price because they know that a high percentage of these will become non payers & abandon the dogs.

Unlike a person getting a pup reared there is nothing happening at the end with a GAP dog.( ie breaking in & racing for a pup)

However I think I may have a workable solution which I will recommend to our ruling bodies.

GRNSW or GWIC could be the point of payment when a dog is boarded at a registered persons property ( pass the board of say $80 or $90 on to the boarder less a handling fee ) GRNSW or GWIC pay the boarder & in the event of non payment the boarder is still paid & GRNSW or GWIC use a debt collecting firm to recover any unpaid board & suspend the owner/trainer from racing until the debt is paid.

In this way the Owner remains responsible for their dog/s, the Boarder has a guarantee of payment & the governing bodies have a solution Owners & Trainers & Boarders can accept.

What are peoples thoughts?

That might help in some cases but that does not help the future of greyhound racing if people can not move dogs on quickly they will never buy more pups then breeders will not breed .People should have the right to place dogs in the GAP and rehome them to other places where they see fit and the ones that can not be rehomed the owners have to make some hard decisions it should be up to the owners not GWIC this is what will end the Industry,no one stands up to the Antis greyhounds are the same as any other dog breed and should be treated in the same way
