GRV Devon Meadows Raid Sunday
Immediate Suspension
Monday, 18 Dec, 2023, by Greyhound Racing Victoria
GREYHOUND PARTICIPANT IMMEDIATELY SUSPENDED AND UNDER INVESTIGATION OVER ALLEGED LURING AND BAITING OFFENCES
Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) Stewards have today suspended a Victorian greyhound trainer, with immediate effect, as a result of an investigation into alleged luring and baiting offences.

Yesterday GRVs Greyhound Racing Integrity Unit Investigative Stewards conducted a targeted inspection of a property at Devon Meadows, where evidence was obtained relating to luring and baiting offences.

Investigative Stewards conducted inquiries with the trainer who has today been suspended with immediate effect, while the investigation continues. The investigation will also incorporate possible offences against the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (POCTA).

GRV Chief Executive Officer, Stuart Laing, said, The industry has zero tolerance for any baiting offences, which not only impact animal welfare but also undermine the integrity of the sport and damages the reputation of the greyhound racing industry.

I would like to acknowledge the work of GRVs Greyhound Racing Integrity Unit, that has led to the identification of these breaches, and the swift action that has been taken, Laing said.

Our Greyhound Racing Integrity Unit is highly vigilant and will investigate allegations and evidence and take appropriate action, including consideration of any potential criminal breaches of Victorias Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1986 as well as offences under the Rules of Racing.

Its a bit sad Peter. Theres no point shaking fists at the antis when its recent reports in south Australia and now this in Victoria ( before the last vic bating scandal has been prosecuted) that will turn governments against greyhounds. Then all that needs to be done is find homes for all the dogs

You will probably find its an old school trainer who just can't let go of the methods that was part of this person's education/history and feels has got nothing to lose due to the persons age and length of time left in the sport

Has no respect for the industry/sport and to be honest should be run out of the game never to return

Those are the rules and thats it...follow them or get out but don't screw it up for everybody else

The only silver lining was that our authorities uncovered this person and not the Anti Groups

Hayden, I will always shake my fist at the anti's.

There are good and bad people in all walks of life and in every organization/activity including their own holier than thou groups...plenty of lunatics and disgusting people calling the shots within them....they need to come to that realization as well

If you can think you can reason with the anti racing groups then you have another thing coming...
