Ryan
Why would you want to have a couple of vibrant race tracks close to the city when you can sell the land they're built on for a shit-load of money?
Swan Hill's the future, methinks.
As, apparently, do GRV.

No Michael, they're debating getting rid of 2 turn city racing is the huge concern, not so much the relocation.

I don't get why Vic City greyhound tracks are targeted for sell off when horse racing has plenty of tracks that would sell easily & would bring in the money the Vic Gov wants , Flemington , Caulfield , Cranbourne , Sandown (Hill Side & Lake side) , Moonee Valley just to name a few.

Flemington, Caulfield and Cranbourne are on Crown land. The MRC wants to sell Sandown to create a new suburb. Moonee Valley is about to be redeveloped and has built apartments to fund it.

No it wouldnt be bad Paul , but like most things in our industry, you need to cater for all types !!! Not one or the other .
Just like Richmond was transformed from a hard strength dog track to the same quick tight turning leaders track that mirrored every other track in all areas , it took the opportunity for those strong 500 mtr types away .
It is now not even half the track it was .. very sad
As long as they rebuild for both types and use the left profits for grass roots and future rehoming visions
When you change tracks / styles etc , you have to take into account there are Poeple who have bred certain ways to which they deemed suited the racing they thought was required . You cant just go and change something that alters or favours one type of chaser when breeders have put decades in to get where they are today ! You cant just erase something and say deal with it .
Thats criminal towards one side or the other .
Ps . Hate seeing heritage gone , but sometimes you have to move with the times and get ahead of the game if possible .

Sounds like the Labor/Green government business plan. Spend like a drunken sailor in an expensive brothel, then sell the ship you sailed in on, fund up and move on to the next brothel.

Brings back memories of Nick Weiner and Fatty O' Barrel !
Privatise everything / sell anything that makes money to your m8's !
In return for a good Board Seat and a salary of around 500k a year !
Weiner refused to entertain anti smoking regulations in NSW and subsequently ended up on the Board of Directors at the Tobacco giant W,D, & H,O, Will's on a salary of 500k a year !
We all know about the Fatty O' Barrel / bottle of Wine saga !
