I am just wondering what ppls thoughts are about Golden View?
I have a couple of pups getting broken in out there atm and I honestly do not think they are doing it right. In the last week they have had only 1 trial out of the boxes in 4 weeks. The pups were suppose to trail again this morning and again sunday when I go out there to pick them up. In the last 4 weeks this is what I have been told they have done.
Week 1 slipping only Weeks 2 slipping again week 3 Bullring week 4 box work and trialing.
I can not for the life of me get much out of one of the ppl out there as it sounds as though he could not give a toss. Yet the other one I get more info out of her when she answers the phone.
Has anyone on here had pups broken in out at Golden View? Thanks
Have had pup reared there and found them to be very nice people.

Don;t be impatient, let them do their stuff. They have probably developed a method which has been successful for them over time. Not everybody does it the same way, just hope you get the end result you hope for. That'll be three trials out of the boxes when you pick them up, that's the standard.

LOUISE they have no short boxes b4 the motor, alot of pups need to get used to the motor at GV so it doesnt pay to box them until they are. i give mine 3 slips infront of the motor followed by 2 slips behind b4 they go out the boxes. i usually give them 2-3 out of the boxes and then push on with them. as far as the owners go they are a very nice couple ( ALAN and CASEY) and im sure they will have your pups interest foremost.

ok thanks for that Mal. Casey is a lovely person to speak to nine times out of 10 I usually get her when I ring. I have trialed a couple of dogs out there a couple of weeks ago 1st time there and the just flew past the motor like they had been there before.
Gee your girl on Thursday night was a shade unlucky wasn't she, I was listening to that race on the radio.
It is interesting how much people have to say with regards to how others do their job.
For a question to be put out. What are some thoughts with regards to a suitable amount of (check up phone calls) when you have left dogs at someone's property for education for 4 weeks.????

Hi Casey, and welcome to the forum. We usually ring at the end of each week to see how they are going.

When I have had dogs at Cudal and Russo's I never rang I let them ring me but they had wealths of experience so I guess If I had had puppies in a position like this with people just new to break ins I may be inclined to be more inquisitive.

That's understandable, but a customer ringing 3-4 times every week for 4 weeks to check on the progress of their dog may be considered a bit excessive?

Casey, As I said previously, we ring at the end of every week to check on their progress. They are our pups and we are paying the bills, so we like to know how they are progressing. Some take longer to break in than others and we get a guide from what the breaker tells us. I would not expect them to ring us, unless there is an injury or sickness problem.

I totally agree. I like to know how my pup's are progressing.
Any more than 3 or 4 calls over the entire 4 week period and I think you will be regarded as a pest.

Imagine breaking in 30/40 dogs at a time and having their owners ringing 3 to 4 times a week. You'd have to take the phone off the hook just so you could get to sleep. Just tell em Casey, that a customer has just walked in so ring me back in a week. Works for me.
I'd maybe ring 2 or 3 times over a 4 week period and if the dog was injuried I'd expect a phone call from them asap..................Luddy.

Casey, what are your average to best times there. Will have a few to re-educate after their spell, soon.

Dan,
You want your breakins to be running around 20.50 and under our fastest breakin has been Eleven Grand who broke in at 19.50's. Re-eds you would want to run low 20's.
