Gold Coast will never run another meeting. With their nose out of joint now, the current board will see to that. The minister will also be getting a big wake up call shortly, maybe do what he's paid for.

Dan more gossip, the Minister won't be getting a wake up call. You have to get it through your head that now Greyhounds Queensland are a Company they are no longer a Government appointed Board and they make the decisions, not the Minister. You said you have a relative who works in the Minster's Office, ask them?

Sue, they are a company yes, yet their powers can be easily taken away from them. They are not as indispensable as they or you may think. Get it through your head that they are covered by the racing act and if they cannot do this then the minister can sack the lot and appoint others. What is it that you dont understand. Also it is not gossip as you and all others will soon learn.

Dan what is it they are doing that is against the Racing Act?

Didn't your last lot of gossip say that the $10 million was awarded to the Gold Coast Club and didn't I tell you it was awarded to Greyhounds Queensland?

And as I also said back then do you think it's right the the Gold Coast Committee should spend industry funds on having plans drawn up for a track that they did not have the money to build, or hiring Consultancy Groups etc. Christ if Greyhounds Queensland had done that we would not hear the end of it.

And do you think it's right that they mislead participants (like yourself) by publishing on their website that the Minister agreed with what they are doing, he never told them that they would be getting the $10 mill in fact he made it quite clear the money belonged to Greyhounds Queensland.

I thought you were a bit smarter than that Sue, as we all know the 10 mil was to compensate the closure of Parklands. Where have a stated different or please show me where it says the 10 mil goes to GQL.
As to your second paragraph, i doubt GQL would give the GC club funds in the first place for what you insinuate.
Your third paragraph, who has been misled. If you were at the GC's meeting with the minister then you would be in the know, but you werent.

If you can prove otherwise, it is clear the 10 mil was to compensate the closure of the Parklands complex.

Dan did you not click on the link in Broc's post at the top of the page? I'll post here for you to read.

Racing Minister meets with GQL
3 June, 2009.

QUEENSLAND'S Racing Minster Peter Lawlor has confirmed the $10 million Parklands compensation will remain the property of Greyhound Queensland.

Lawlor met yesterday with three of the four GQL Board of Directors, Kerry Watson, Chris Williams and Paul Felgate, and General Manager Darren Beavis.

"The Minister took it upon himself to confirm the $10 million is for the use of GQL and its building of a new greyhound complex," said Beavis.

Mr Lawlor asked to meet GQL representatives as a "touching base" informal meeting, the first he has had with greyhound racing industry leaders.

"We had a very productive meeting with Mr Lawlor and the subject of the $10 million and its use was brought up," said Beavis.

"Our Directors outlined the current position of our preferred site at Logan and that we are waiting for the second phase of testing on the site." This report is expected by the end of this month.

"Mr Lawlor advised us he had met informally some weeks ago with committee members of the Gold Coast club," said Beavis.

"He reiterated to them that the $10 million compensation for the loss of the Gold Coast track was being provided to Greyhounds Queensland." He confirmed this to us yesterday."

The QGL Press Release has miffed me since I first read it..it is all very well to inform participants re the $10m compensation but as this was a "first" meeting between the Greyhound Industry leaders and the Minister responsible for Greyhound Racing, surely there must have been some other important matters discussed that were worthy of mention.

Was that for the post on this site Dan? I'm not sure that anyone has been charged with that before in Qld. How long are you disqualified for?

Myself and many others believe that GQL are not happy with the internet forums at all. Approaching these forum sites requesting member details, one forum site was asked to ban some members. I recieved notice to appear in front of stewards re rule 86(f)
Rule 86 (f)
engages in, publishes or causes to be published, broadcasts or causes to be broadcast, the use of any contemptuous, unseemly, improper, insulting, or offensive language, conduct or behaviour in any manner or form towards, or in relation to-
(i) a Steward;
(ii) the committee, or a member of the committee, of a club;
(iii) the Controlling Body, or a member of the Controlling Body; or
(iv) any other person having official duties in relation to greyhound racing

The notice also stated that if i was unable to attend, the inquiry would be held in my absence. I believe most that know me are aware that i am the full time carer for my old man, which wasnt a reasonable cause for not attending the inquiry as far as the chairman of stewards is concerned. I forwarded a submission to the chairman directing them to hold this inquiry and to finalise the matter, and still waiting for a reply or result. I was told i was disqualified until i appear. Previous penalties under rule 86(f) have been a small fine and good behaviour, not disqualification.
I have a litter going to rearers this weekend, two from this litter are in Perth while another in Sth Oz, they will want their papers. Another litter just over 4 weeks, i will need to register those also. They will be done eventually however the drama is not desired.

Dan if you don't attend an inquiry then you are not there to plead your case so you will get the maximum penalty. Couldn't you get someone to be with your father while you attended?

You say you are disqualified until you appear which is the normal course of action, does that still stand? If so it would be in your best interests to ask for another hearing date and attend or by the rules you will stay disqualified.

Sue the chairman of stewards informed me to forward a submission directing them to hear the inquiry in my absence, which i did. Just waiting on the results i suppose.

You may know what family can be like in situations like this, to many commitments etc. Weekends they offer to take him but midweek, no chance.

Sounds like the idiots are definately running the assylum in good old QLD.
If you wish I can forward a number for a greyhound friendly QC, he has an interest in some of my dogs,He would like nothing better than putting these clowns in their place.

Hey Ian, i know 2 QC's and they are aware of whats going on. If your mate has an interest in the hounds then it would be a bonus to have another on board. I included in my submission to not make like comments in the future. As far as i know the matter has not been dealt with, and as i am good on my word my comments on any site will be limited. Further action though will depend on the outcome of this inquiry.
