10 Sept, 2009. THE Board of Greyhounds Queensland has resolved to immediately revoke the license of the Gold Coast Greyhound Racing Club Inc. Following the closure of the Parklands facility the Club has not been able to recommence racing on the Gold Coast. The race dates previously provided to the Gold Coast Club have been allocated to the Brisbane and Ipswich Clubs.

Unfortunately GQL would have no choice but to de-register the Gold Coast Club.
Their Constitution states:-
"TAB Licensed Club means a club licensed by the Company on which the TABQ offers wagering on the majority of greyhound races conducted by the club in the current racing year, being the period from 1 August in a year to 31 July of the following year."
The Gold Coast Club does not fit that criteria and if they were not de-registered GQL would not be acting in accordance with their Constitution.
This does not mean the Gold Coast Club no longer exists, it just means they are not registered for racing. If at some time in the future they acquire a venue suitable for racing there is nothing stopping them for re-applying for registration as a licensed club.

Thats quite clear Sue, they can only take their licence away and no interference to the club itself. I dont think it really matters what their constitution states as they have proven to disregard it numerous times. GQL quoted on the 10 Sep "Following the closure of the Parklands facility the Club has not been able to recommence racing on the Gold Coast" It is also quite clear GQL are dead set against another track on the coast and have made things rather difficult for them. Why couldnt they have offered support with the Golds Coasts endevour. But not this childish lot, its their way or no way.

What support could they give them Dan? the Minister made it quite clear in Parliament that the $10 million was going towards a track at Logan and I don't think there is anymore money for another track.
The Gold Coast Club have indicated there is land available to them at Ormeau to build another track, I don't know how much money is currently in their coffers but I think they should be looking at ways of fundraising to build a complex.
It's not a matter of what's in the past, the $10 million will not be going to the Gold Coast so I think they now have to move forward and consider their options without it.

The racing minister is a sly one, but arent they all. Prior to this question time you refer to, the ministers public announcement was the 10 mil was to compensate the loss of Praklands, only since GQL have sucked up to him, he has included the Logan site. The minister is also quoted as saying he supports a track on the coast. Im still tipping Logan wont get out of the ground.

Talking about Queensland Greyhound Racing. I hear you were stung by the Board for defamatory comments Dan. Mate I told you at the time, it's OK to listen to the rumours and even to believe them if you wish. But it's foolish to record those ideas on a public forum.
Big Brother is watching you and the moles are a lot closer than you think. Hope you enjoy your break ;-)

Theres an article in one of the local rags on the Tweed reporting that the Gold Coast City Council wants to buy Border Park and develop it into sporting fields. So much for the TAB track.

No rumours Dixie, all fact. In fact, i wonder if the normal process will persue the enviromental study conducted at Cronulla Park. SKM have handed in their preliminary report on their findings, however, the process involves yet another report being from an independant firm appointed by SKM. Talking to a mate this arvo who's wife works for one such firm, i think he refered to her as an enviromental scientist. Have also learned the maintenance costs for these towers are so much more than what has been confirmed. Plus what are they going to hit when drilling down into the earth for their foundations for the buildings and tower. Also the fact is laws are about to change in reference to how the gases from these towers are released as a lot of the time they settle back to the soil and not dispersed into the air. These towers will have to burn this gas as it is released in the future.

I think we all would love to have a well budgeted, viable, safe, multipurpose track, in an appropriate location, that we could be proud to take friends and family to or to suggest would be a good night out.
Unfortunately I think Cronulla Park doesn't fit that criteria. It's going to expensive to build there, there are ongoing expenses which we will be burdened with and I'm not convinced it's a great location.
It might suit someone like yourself, who live within spitting distance of the proposed complex. But for the majority of participants there are better options.
I agree with both Mal and Dan on this subject and have been saying so since the idea was first mooted. But I warn you to be careful "The Mole" is watching over our shoulders ;-)
Word is that if you hold a trainers or owners licence from now on you need to have your tongue removed just in case you have something to say that might not sit well in others ears !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Spot on Warren, they're happy to use stand over tactics, then sit back telling you they're a protected species.
