no, I take that back, we are sure to get more unkept promises.

It's 11 years come 1st of September, that $10,000,000 was promised by a labour party treasury and 9 years that Racing Qld have refused to deliver, now waiting to relocate Ipswich on a one turn track,Racing Qld and all their thoroughbred CEOs have had no intentions of ever replacing Parklands for the greyhounds or harness codes.

The possible reason the previous racing minister relinquishing Cronulla Park to the Logan City Council could have been the ongoing investigation of Logan Council corruption by the CMC,Cronulla Park with plans readily available is still the BEST option for a relocated
one turn track, but Parnell is tarred with the same brush as all his predecessors, and will promise the relocation site for Ipswich only when the state election is announced and not until then.

Yes Rod, the thousands of Logan City punters are denied live entertainment by Racing Qld and the possibility of corruption , you go figure?

In NSW and the ACT the greens were instrumental in closing down the greyhound industry,in Qld the greens campaigned to stop a desperately needed one turn track at Cronulla Park,so what did the previous Racing Minister and the Woodridge member do?they bowed to the greens agenda.a betrayal by labour politicians and Cronulla Park sits idle while Racing Qld continue to lie to appease their puppet master.under the Bligh labour government greyhounds had Desley Scott locally and a racing minister pro greyhound racing, what we have now is an anti greyhound pro green local and racing minister who also stand in the way of the Tweed Club relocating to Beaudesert in an LNP stronghold.

Kev,

Mostly true, but two points are worth considering. While Greens (or one Green) were noisy in NSW that was nothing new. It was the personal distaste for greyhounds by Baird, and ditto by Grant, which prompted the ill-justified decision. In the end it cost them.
That outcome had little to do with dogs and lots to do with the principle of a government wiping out an industry - any industry.

Second, the failure to pursue a Parklands replacement is an absolute disgrace, whether Deagon, Logan or wherever. It verges on an ICAC-style abuse.

But put that aside. The fundamental reason for these problems is that greyhound racing does not rate - it has no "hand". The wonder and history of the canine athlete has never been presented to the public - which therefore is left with a series of bad news items so loved by the media. Politicians know that and can get away with anything they like.

The current NSW Racing Minister even spoke and voted in favour of the ban. Then, recently, he located a spare $0.5m in the Tab to underpin the Million dollar race in the lead-up to the election.

As we stand, greyhound dislikes far outweigh likes. It's not just the animal or the participants or even the lopsided makeup of the RQ board but the ingrained attitude of the public that matters. Fix that and we're cooking.

Bruce, when the 2010-2012 labour government backflipped on their Deagon fiasco the member for woodridge (Desley Scott)the racing minister and his chief advisor fully committed to the one turn track at Cronulla Park, the Palazcuk racing ministers and member for woodridge have since fully backed the greens anti Cronulla Park agenda, hence no one turn track for 11 years come September 2019, Qld greyhound welfare will be continued to be neglected while the current CEO sits on his hands.

Kev,

As I understand it, at Logan a raucous mob got their way - whether Greens or corrupt locals.

At Deagon, amongst other things, a raucous thoroughbred mob got their way.

What is needed is a raucous but well-informed public to support the greyhound effort. Only then will politicians react. There will always be opposing views in parliament so public support is not just helpful but essential. (Public noise is what gained SFF the Orange-NSW seat and caused the Racing Minister to quit).

I could be wrong, but it's up to this labour government to prove me wrong.they have certainly neglected greyhound welfare for almost 11 years,I'am not wrong about that.

Given that Racing Qld and the Tweed Club appear to be stalemated, and Grace Grace may have been conned by anti greyhound Logan councillers now charged with corruption into NOT proceeding to relocate the Parklands one turn track to Cronulla Park, nothing's stopping the current Racing Minister immediately greenlighting the 11 year missing $10,000,000 Cronulla Park project, and if Ipswich want to relocate to a one turn track, then two one turn tracks to race and trial on would completely eliminate the current idiotic suicide starts.

11 years later and the promise of a new track after PARKLANDS was stolen from the industry (well that's what it looks like now)....has still resulted in DUCK EGG.

What are the rumours now & how much interest has the promised 10 million dollars accumalated now?

If it actually happens, I will gladly bare my buttocks in the main street of Ipswich.

No-one can blame anyone for being cynical after 13 YEARS of broken promises and rape of the industry's assets and spirit.

Start the formalities of submissions and groundwork NOW and keep the whole industry informed every step of the way, so you know, they can have FAITH.
So we can see that it isn't just another political promise that goes down the drain with the next election loss.
Which brings me to the white elephant question...
Although signed off, what happens if Labour loses the next election and works haven't been started?
Are the Liberals obliged to honour a Labour promise?
You can answer that yourselves.

Applaud Mr. Bien's enthusiasm but the track record of broken dreams and promises is firmly entrenched in my small pea sized brain, it will take a sledgehammer of proof (physical) to rest me at ease.

Best they get those breeding incentives back on track...we'll need a lot of dogs to race at the great venue...won't we?

Oops, almost forgot...
Since it was a Labour Govt that snaffled our only asset via Qld racing, it would be very appropriate for RQ and Labour to announce that the potential venue will be wholely owned by the Greyhound industry.
Fair deal for sure...Albion Park - 100 million plus, in exchange for Yamanto - 40 million.

Give the good people of our industry our rightful little piece of cake and let us prosper...not a big ask.
After all, we are the only ones making profit with one arm tied behind our back...makes good business sense, doesn't it?

Spot on Michael unless it begins before the next election it will be seen by us sceptics as just another election ploy similar to the one before the last change of government, and we all know what we got from those loosers,a clown for a racing minister who then led one nation and wasn't even good enough for those ratbags.

Heard on radio this morning that the question was asked of Luke Gatehouse about any change of government. He stated that it has been signed off by the Govenor of Qld and cannot be changed.

Ron,
We all hope against hope that we eventually get treated rightly.
I hope Luke verified that statement before announcing it because I can't find that confirmation on the Governor's web page and he is pretty thorough in his engagements history.
Having said that, my computer is down so I'm using the phone without a back button, so maybe I missed it.
Nowhere can I find a record of signing off a Greyhound infrastructure allowance...

I'm a funny bugger and I like to have everything confirmed, preferably in writing and legally watertight with no outs or maybes.
Probably goes back to the days when my Mum promised me a pet elephant if I stopped being naughty.

Absolutely right Bruce we need to bring the public along with us.
Wouldn't it be great to have a few 30 second TV ads showing all the
weird and wonderous antics of our beautiful speed hounds? All the hours upside down, legs in the air; speed circles; carrying plates, toys, the joy on their faces......also greyhound racing is the average persons hobby and they are becoming favourite pets.
