4 dog invitational event, on next Thursday night. $15k to the winner.
It's been run for a few years now, and is usually a great spectacle as a follow up to the Group 1 Gold Cup staying feature each year.

If Bell Haven lines up I reckon the small field size condition is likely to suit her racing style more than her likely competitors.
She's a terrific 'advertisement' for her sire Head Bound.
We have still got some very, very good stayers around, despite Miata's recent retirement. Four x Group 1 victories to Destini Fireball sure is proof of that ... and when you consider Bell Haven has just missed in the last 2 big staying features, it augers well for some exciting staying contests in the months ahead.

Does anyone know how to get in contact with Emilio Rinaldi.

Surely someone would have contact details. I'm curious as to when he will be retired to stud and if natural etc is to be offered. I have a specific bitch to breed stayer to stayer.

Emilio won't have his number listed Sean, I'll get a message to him for you but don't be offended if you don't hear anything back.

always dangerous trying to breed a stayer sean.My main concern for his stud prospects would be his average times over 500m.But he definetly would deserve a crack at stud as do any dog that has shown his attributes.

All the great stayers had good speed over the sprints as well.
I'd rather use General Destini than Destini Fireball

Another good sign for his stud prospects was the fact the whole litter was good.Someone will use him when he retires and it will definetly interesting too see what he throws.

On a 500m bitch I would probably use general destini, but for a specific staying bitch I wish to use a quicker bigger hard chasing stayer and breed strength to strength as they both had a bit of pace as well.

Sean I read a article and a gentleman was interviewed about dogs he's breed and raced and I remember him saying that he breed his best staying bitch to a staying sire and got one of the fastest sprinters he ever had :)

Have no doubts there would be a chance for a good pup or two from Destini

James,
it is a defined breeding method to breed strengths to stregnths where good stayers to better stayers can essentially work very well. my interest in fireball is because of his sire and his dams sire and dam line, and the fact that he could still go 29.39 over the shorts shows he had reasonable pace and his times were not to shabby over the distance.
I see it at not any different to putting a really good 500 meter dog to a 500-600 bitch in the end goal of creating a better 500mtr dog in mind (yes some time you end up with 400 meter dogs as well).
I think its different when you put a stayer over a sprinter you can possibly slow the breed down I guess, but of stayers that I have in mind symmetry, destini fireball, dashing corsair and bobby boucheau.
out of all of those they all have nice element's but I particularly like fireballs breeding.

fair enough sean there was an article posted on this site a few years ago by a top irish breeder that he believed you bred to your bitches strengths. Here in oz we normally steer away from these type of sires, maybe that will change with this guy.
