Straining to move her bowels

I have my beautiful Sueyork since last January. She is a wonderful dog, loves my Chihuahua (they sleep together). However, she has a problem moving her bowels, Always seems as if she's straining. Went to the vet and did what he said...grain-free food, salmon oil in her food & probiotics. Still the same. She also wakes us up to go out just about every morning about 2-3 a.m. We are exhausted in the morning. She goes out at night about 10 p.m so she should be good fr the evening. I never had this problem with any of my Greys. She is a mystery. Any suggestions?

Disclaimer: Im not a vet n its unqualified advice taken at your own risk.
A couple of weetbix (bran flakes of some sort) with milk n water in the morning and a teaspoon of cod liver oil in meal with half/full cup of warm water at night until fixed then oil maybe once a week.
Moisten your dry food regularly. Bones will dry them out.

Bernice, try cutting down on her dry food, increasing her morning fluid intake, and have you checked her anal glands, as they could possibly be blocked, and causing her problems. Keep away from bones, as they tend to make the motions dry and hard. Try giving her main meal in the morning, so that she has plenty of time to relieve herself before the evening. Good luck !
