Are the various Countries around the world, and especially the States here in Australia.
Are they contributing Money/wise to your Organisation, to collate all this missing Data? ( On retired Greyhounds)

I think i can speak for Tony and Jason and the Team ...Terry

NO

Tony and Jason the owners of GD and the many volunteers and our valuable members do it for free
Hours upon hours of data gets added everyday some auto but most manually ...

Each google advert you see on GD helps pay to keep the servers up and running and anti cyber protection to protect all of the years of data from being attacked or stolen or corrupted .

Its a remarkable website forum that could never be replaced if lost .

I dont think any other K9 or Animal website in the world today that has the data that GD has today its unmatched ..
Tony works 24/7 on Data day and night 7 days a week ....

It would be so easy if all of the Countries could give us the pups born each year and what dogs are placed in homes in Australia would be fantastic as yet GAP and all of the other foster adoption groups have failed to provide any information the only one being GSN ...

So every Greyhound adopted and fostered in Australia cannot be collected from one source it a State thing but it would be fantastic if all of the GAP dogs all over Australia used Greyhound data to record these events .....I have rang a few adoption groups within Australia but as yet no updates on GD Adoption page ....

It is a shame Terry because we really want to work with every country and every foster adoption group World wide ....

We need all of these groups to please UPDATE your info

The Australian racing bodys in each State should send us this information monthly but as you know we seem to have a problem in Australia with sharing this content and this attitude must change because in the End its our History not there's IMO

The Question was directed to G.Data Admin!
Is that you Mr. Barry?

Don't tell me what to do with MY money. Pleeeeaaassee
We pay our various State Authorities many fees.
Naming Rego, Litter Rego, Whelping, Pink Card, Transfer fee's Semen, Licence's etc.

Are they not RESPONSIBLE for RECORDING all Data on ALL Greyhounds?
If out/sourced they should be paying, for a service provided.

FYI: I was a Former paid/up Member, Who become disenchanted & Irritated by (Only) one particular person. G.Data know this!

Perhaps Mr. Barry, you could suggest that NON-PAID participants only post during HOURS that don't upset you? 12am-5pm?

4 agrees! All Gold Members, I assume

Terry,

The degree of your disenchantment is equalled only by your lack of knowledge about how the sport works in Australian states. That's a pity.

The simple answer to your question is that state and other authorities are, and always have been, responsible for collecting data and then theoretically making it available to all and sundry.

In Victoria that is done reasonably well, at least for racing data. For all other states OzChase (originated by WA and NSW) does it in a fairly slapdash fashion. In effect, it denies usable information to the public or it makes errors - its major crime being to stop the public downloading information either manually or digitally.

Still, as far as I know, the G-D breeding info is very good and well presented. Its racing data is not, which I have told Tony about several times. For that, you should use GRV or Ozchase but preferably the former.

Aside from the above, you may note that the Stud Book is organised separately by GA, via data supplied by the states (using fees you pay).

Ideally, the Stud Book and the racing data should be merged so they can talk to each other routinely (as for the thoroughbreds). But they aren't, so you can't. That leaves the fans out in the cold when they are trying to assess what the progeny of a particular sire or dam is like. It is one of the many reasons that greyhound racing is not progressing faster.

In any event, the long list of fees you pay is allocated to the cost of keeping and supplying that information. A NSW exception is, or would be, any fees charged by the pup simply for being there. That is for no service at all and is therefore "illegal" - which may be why it has not happened yet.

Oddly, although OzChase is supposedly a one-size-fits-all deal, in practice four states still produce their own versions of race and form information (WA, Qld, Tas and deFax in NSW). Of those, only WA's formguide is worth two bob.

Note: OzChase does serve other administrative purposes than just race and form details. Nevertheless, the expensive duplication persists, for which you are paying.

Thanks Terry. Perhaps, you are eluding to authorities in States and Territories, especially in Australia but all over the world, could help G-Data out in one way or another. It is a fabulous site with knowledgeable people contributing to it and other people wanting or needing to know more.

P.S. Micky G got a double yesterday. Congrats to you too for winners a few weeks back.

Terry,
A more careful reading of my last post will miraculously reveal that it applies to both current and retired greyhounds.

As a matter of interest, when I said GRV was mostly good that does not include its habit of classifying as "Retired" those dogs which have been euthanised following a track injury. This is done automatically as the meeting results are processed. The stewards' reports are correct but not the historical data you are talking about.

In turn, that means that someone has written a program to force such a claim into the system. It cannot be accidental.

That practice my well distort past data or contribute to missing data. Who knows?

MG,
I couldn’t find any helpful hints from a training perspective by the ‘writer’. It must have been ‘lucky’ and haphazard of you to win. You and Tezza are pretty lucky fellas.

I'm not so sure about the "lucky" bit, Mark, but as you know, some are totally oblivious to the trainer's daily grind of problem solving...
One of those wins yesterday was the result of 6 mths of hair pulling and copious amounts of money, expert advice, trial and error, and perseverance.
Of course, along with the amazing insight and guidance of Bruce's posts.

We are truly blessed.

Hi Terry, in answer to your original question no racing boards worldwide are helping us to record dogs from birth to death.

We do have many adoption groups worldwide helping and the work Michaela Muller and the rest of the retirement team are doing is outstanding.

Tony,

I think we should point out to the fans that aside from the two major contributors (GRV and OzChase) there are a few sources which could would help create a "birth to death" racing record of dogs. It just requires the interest and the IT expertise.

We have been doing it for nearly 30 years. That even included de-encrypting already encrypted form files.

Obviously, that would embrace both current and retired racers (providing they had been named).

Unnamed pups etc could also be assessed but via different sources. They are of no value for form purposes so we have never bothered with the stats - important though they might be.

Bruce, thank you for your offer of collecting these stats from the Australian side. GD will take care of collecting them from the rest of the world.

Seriously Bruce, the main 4 greyhound countries have a lot of pressure on them to collect this data. They will struggle due to the fact that they need input from breeders, owners and trainers on how many dogs they have homed privately as well as kept themselves. I know Australia has a good system in place for most of this but not all countries do and Greyhound-Data is a worldwide website so it is important to track as many dogs as we can worldwide. The people against greyhound racings simply total the dogs bred and take away the number racing, the rest are declared "missing".

It does not just require the interest and the I.T. expertise, it is far more complexed than that. Every dog any organisation states has been adopted those against racing will demand to know exactly where each and every dog is and really we should have the answers.

The adoption groups who have been supported on GD by giving them the platform to record details have homed 109,100 greyhounds.

Tony, I know I won a 6 month membership in Swedish tipping comp but I was overdue I think so if you/or a team member can contact
me on the same number I can fix you up. Are we any closer to having top 2nd offspring? offspring of sons and offspring of daughters options? Thanks
