KYRGIOS NEEDS A COACH: MOLIK WEIGHS IN

FORMER world No.8 and current Australia Fed Cup captain Alicia Molik believes it is imperative Nick Kyrgios hires a coach as the game of tennis is too taxing mentally and physically to reach the top without one.

Kyrgios has been the talk of the town today after his five-set loss to Italian Andreas Seppi last night despite winning the first two sets.

Tennis is such a difficult sport now that, you have to be physically prepared, you have to be mentally prepared, you have to be diligent every single day of the year if you want to beat the best players, Molik told SEN.

I know what it takes to get to the top 10 in tennis and I wasnt always the most talented, I wasnt always the quickest on the court, I just had to work incredibly, incredibly hard to get there so when you do see the talent, if only he could match it with the 20-30% off the court.

Nick can do quite amazing things but only he can decide when the right time is for him I guess."

Kyrgios, in a fiery post-match press conference last night, finally conceded he needs to hire a coach.

Molik believes that appointment, whoever it is, will be critical for a player who was seeded No.14 at this year's Australian Open but failed to make it past the second round.

I cant remember the last top 10 player who didnt have a coach to be honest with you, I think male or female, she said.

Its criticaland the coach does I guess spend so much time on elements of the game that the player doesnt have time for.

You spend so many hours scouting, looking at opponents, breaking down analysis, video footage, so its not just what goes on the court but the hours you spend off it.

------------------------------------------------------------

All I can say is that if you want to be a professional, you should act like one and organize yourself in a professional manner

Otherwise, he should go back to the amateur ranks

Yeah he's a good coach that Mauresmo chick.
Marat Safin is the guy.
Legendary racquet smasher, often accompanied by 5 supermodels, tanty chucker, but still brilliant enough to win a US and an Aus open.

Lets wait and see, I would like to think you are right and maybe the leopard has changed its spots, however a wild card like him seems unlikely to not go off the rails sometime soon.
For the sake of Kyrgios and Australian tennis...I hope that he has had a good hard look at himself and made the necessary character change, only time will tell, say 3 or 4 tournaments.

He is who he is.
They cant all be Federers or Kenny Rosewalls.
Geez, do we think he is the only misbehaved sportsman in the world?
I say back off, leave the kid alone, sit back and watch his development. Alternatively, dont watch at all.

If he doesn't reach our lofty standards of humanity, so what.
Good luck Nick.

Ive already chosen my option Jamie...I dont watch him!

And for your information...he aint no kid anymore!

Why should we lay off him, he is a public entity and presents as an Australian in the worlds sports arena, if he chooses to be a d#ckhead thats his decision, as is my/our right to criticise him.

Thats the way it is mate, so be it...you have your opinion and I have mine!
