When the AFL first proposed establishing a team based in Sydneys West, almost everyone said it couldn't work. This was Rugby League heartland.
Well maybe now we can have a look at membership numbers and see how this experiment is tracking.

GWS Giants membership has just reached 30,000

Parramatta Eels are at 25,000
Wests Tigers are at 20,000
Canterbury/Bankstown Bulldogs are at 18,000

Working well I'd say.

Well Huss, that probably makes up for McKernans 'goal' against us that almost broke a blokes finger.
After watching the ashes test, I'll never complain about our umpires again

Common Quinny, the TOUCHED rule is a complete joke! SCRAP IT AFL.
A finger nail touching the ball 50m out? Joke. Doesn't happen in other major sports. Apply it to Soccer! and see what happens.

Hey GF this week for the Dons, lose to the Bullies and season over.
Week after Larry's boys in Perth, then Maggot's last round. We are in trouble! Lucky we can throw HOOKER forward to kick a few straight!!!!!! Have you seen a worse kick for goal, than this bloke?
Marks in the backline, and kicks BACKWARDS! Marks in the forward line, and thinks he can kick goals from anywhere!

Yeah the Cricket umpiring standard is going south. They don't want to make decisions until both teams have used up their "Third Umpire" allotments.

Giants kick 4 goals in 4 quarters in Canberra tonight! Not quite right, NONE after half time.

Rushed to the emergency department of South West Base Hospital Ryot Street Warrnambool after hurling stubby at TV only to having it explode and glass flying everywhere. Not football related but after he took the tote odds of a $1.30 on the check in the 8th at Cassie this afternoon. - Mockers Macwollie

We 'experimented' by seeing how many goals can be kicked while not laying any tackles, running at half pace, missing all handballs and avoiding contact.
The answer is 4.

When you are guaranteed a final spot, you can afford to rest players like Kelly, Hopper, Himmelberg, etc.
And we don't want to finish 4th anyway because it would be a trip to Brisbane or Perth or MCG.
Better to finish 5th or 6th and get a home final.

Finish outside of the top 4, and you'll travel the 2nd week anyway.
For a team with it's season in PERIL. Last nights effort was nothing short of disgraceful. Writing was on the wall against G/Coast, accentuated again v Port, and bought to a head last night.

The "Peptide Penalties" are biting hard now. Draft picks especially.
Carlton are now just recovering from their mauling from the AFL. It was reported then, it would take 10 years for them to return to being a force again. Bombers copped more! (We have no depth).

Would love to see a Bulldogs V Lions Granny! (About 66/1)
