Some people may be aware that there is currently a Animal Welfare parliamentary enquiry happening in NSW. This has started about the RSPCA but could head in any direction.

During the ban we heard a lot from Stephen Ruston with comments like

"Healthy young dogs are being destroyed for no other reason than that they did not cut the mustard," counsel assisting the commission, Stephen Rushton, SC, said.
Mr Rushton said the industry was reliant on over-breeding, also known as "wastage". While the regulator, Greyhounds Racing NSW, has publicly committed to reducing the number of deaths, it has so far resisted strict breeding restrictions.
Mr Rushton said it was "myth" that the regulator put animal welfare first, as it claimed. He said the industry was secretive, driven by profit and benefiting from "unspeakable acts of cruelty" ( Taken from Sydney Morning Herald)

No from the RSPCA website

Mr S Rushton SC, BA/LLB (Hons)
Director
Mr Rushton is a barrister who has been in practice since 1986. In 2000 he was appointed Senior Counsel. In 2017 he was appointed a Commissioner of the Independent Commission Against Corruption. He has a passion for animal welfare and the environment. In 2015 he was appointed Counsel Assisting the Special Commission of Inquiry into the Greyhound Racing Industry. He has been Environmental Counsel to the Environment Authority since 1995 and is a member of the Australian Academy of Forensic Sciences. As well as being a Life Member of RSPCA NSW Mr Rushton is a volunteer at the Sydney shelter.

Mr Rushton has just given evidence to the new inquiry as well as groups like AA, Coalition to the protection of greyhounds.

NEVER STOP LOOKING OVER YOUR SHOULDER.
