Are you a member of the MCG?

No doubt mate, it's already getting beyond a joke. I'm just waiting for the day that a well respected commentator or past player comes out and and just tells it like it really is. Sadly it may never happen! Even Boof had to dress his comments up because of his coaching position.

The worry I've got now is that we're only a few years away from seeing the generation of kids that grew up idolising Murali, and probably copying and being taught every bit of his "legal" action.

I'm with you blokes. Murali seems a great fella and good luck to him performing as he has and getting the record but I too always consider Warne to be the greatest ever. Not because he's an Aussie or any reason other than the fact that his action was never questioned and he was a dead set match winner.

In Jackson Bird we have found a very McGrath like bowler at last. I'd seen a bit of him in the Sheffield Shield previously but now I've watched him for longer periods I'm more impressed. He'll take his first 200 test wickets inside 50 Tests is my prediction and will be a sensation in England where the ball nips about a bit. Bird, Pattinson, Siddle and Harris/Starc will form a very very handy attack for the Ashes if we can get them all on the field together.

Hi Bern

Yes my mum put me down in 1977 when I was 4 , I got my membership about 10 years ago so it takes a while !

Interested in seeing how long others waited.

Now I live in NSW and hardly use it but im not giving it up thats for sure :) One day ill take my boys to the cricket and the footy

Sri lanka seemed to put up a bit of a better effort yesterday, lets hope for some good competition today.

Although Sri Lanka put up a better fight in the third Test the result never really looked in doubt and the Aussies cruised to an easy series win.

Goodbye to Mr Cricket, wonderful career for a bloke who appears to be one of the genuine nice guys of world sport. Always positive in his outlook of opposition and cricket in general and a very modest bloke for someone who has been outstanding throughout his career. Will leave a big void and interesting to see how they fill it. Personally I'd change two things, Cowan out, Hughes to open and Khawaja in at three and Watson comes back in to replace Hussey in the middle order (or Maxwell if a spinning all rounder is required). The regeneration of the side looks almost complete and now they just need some experience to become a top shelf unit. Really looking forward to the Ashes this year!

India in India will be a very very tough tour for this inexperienced group but should really be the making of a couple, hopefully.

hows this one day team, no hussey , no warner, no watson, no clarke, no wade ......

Is it good to see some young blood being given a go, or is it a matter of not taking the srillies seriously enough?

Personally I don't like it. They're being picked to play for Australia.......Australia!

Pick the best players and make the fringe guys work for their place. I really don't buy into this 'they're playing too much cricket' rubbish. A dozen Tests, a dozen one dayers and a dozen T20 games. That's about 80 days out of 365 if the Tests all went 5 days, which rarely happens anyway, all for ONLY a couple of million a year. Geez, pick me!! You heard Aaron Finch say the other night he felt he was batting well because he'd been playing more recently and getting consistent form, funny that, that was how we got cricket fit when I played, we played games and practised!
No Hussey because they've 'got an eye on the upcoming World Cup'? So why is Haddin there? Puzzling decisions.

Pick the best players and let them play!

Agree and as well doug when they are batting 9 of them are sitting around for hours on end till its thier turn so its not as if they are constantly on the go all the time for 4 days on end!

How do you get muscle memory - you practise, same as golf ( apparently lol im crap at golf)

Haddins got me beat he really has as to why he was picked, it seems to be two steps forward 5 steps backwards.

I would watch the game on the TV but I probably wouldnt pay the prices to see the game unless the top team was playing,,, I wonder how the attendance will be?

Mate I think the current selections and policy is a joke. Talk about devaluing selection for Australia. Don't get me wrong, there's some talented kids coming through but their choices are more like the old Australia A selections than a proper national team. Using the reasoning they have one eye on a tournament that isn't on for over 2 years has me baffled?? Khawaja in for one game, run out and dropped? Other players in for one game and dropped? Geez, if they're the best available so rewarded with Australian selection surely they deserve more than one match? Just ridiculous!

Its got me beat, there was only one player in that one dayer from the test team. What about having a core of players that play week in week out a lah warney, gilly , mcgrath, ok 20/20 games I can understand however test players have played both forms of the game ( tests and one dayers) for as long as I can remember.
Its like pot luck, they seem to think ok lets chop and change and magically all of a sudden we will find a team that can gel and win.

having so little experience in the dressing room when the other batsmen are dropping like flies, who batted the best for us? Haddin , as he has the experience and maturity to keep his head, most of the others are too busy being nervous as they are finally playing for australia, ok put a few newbies in we need new blood, but dont take all of our best international players away at once!

Agree mate. We've gone from blind faith in someone when everyone knew he should have been dropped to no faith at all in players. Aaron Finch has been the best limited overs bat for quite some time but gets dropped after two games. Surely you give a guy who's been doing the business for a while an extended period to cement his spot for the national side and play his natural game once the nerves have disappeared??

I think when so many respected players (Lillee, Lee, Chappell etc) come out and question what's happening the selectors have to start looking at how they're operating.

I see they've rotated the coach as well for the next match?? FFS are they joking? What did he have, heart soreness? Madness!

Australia squad David Warner, Phillip Hughes, Michael Clarke (capt), George Bailey, David Hussey, Matthew Wade (wk), Glenn Maxwell, Moises Henriques, Mitchell Johnson, Mitchell Starc, Clint McKay, Xavier Doherty

I really like Clint McKay, really tries his heart out and a real honest workhorse of a bowler.

from cric info ( baggy green)

Cricket Australia also announced that the fielding coach Steve Rixon would stand in as head coach over the next few days and during the ODI in Brisbane on Friday to allow Mickey Arthur a break during the team's busy summer. Arthur will spend a few days with his family in Perth before returning to coaching duties for the fourth ODI in Sydney on Sunday

Next thing they will be rotating the bowlers and batters and have the bowlers open the batting innings so they arent too tired when they have to bowl!

Gee old Warney is getting into trouble at the moment, anyone catch the end of the scorchers game ? What a win and well done by hussey. Lucky for the no ball

from ESPN crick info

Shane Warne has been reported for breaching Cricket Australia's Code of Behaviour during the semi-final of the Big Bash League between Melbourne Stars and Perth Scorchers. The charge was laid because James Faulkner was named the Stars' official captain even though Warne was part of the team during their last-ball defeat at the WACA.

Warne was alleged to have breached Rule 5: Laws of Cricket and Spirit of the Game, after a memo had been sent to all the teams on December 5. Under the heading "Over Rates", the memo stated, "If a team's official captain is selected but not named as captain, this will be considered against the Spirit of Cricket and may attract a Code of Behaviour charge."

In the semi-final, Faulkner was listed as the Stars' captain on the team sheet and went out to toss. Warne, the Stars' official captain, had previously been warned for a slow over-rate violation. A second offence in the semi-final would have led to Warne being suspended for the final.

The time and date of the hearing is yet to be determined.
