Rather than limit a topic to a particular series or theme I thought I'd start a thread where comment can be made on all things Aussie cricket. Talk about the series happening at the time, a player that catches your eye or even that you like the dress Warnies missus is wearing!(lol)

Any young players in the big bash impressing anyone? Although I'm not a wrap for the 20 over game as a real pointer to the proper version I have been impressed by Kane Richardson for the Adelaide Strikers. Got a way to go yet but swings the ball at good pace and hits the pitch hard. One to watch.

I bowled a maiden over once. She was a dear old thing, I didn't see her on the Malvern Star bike I was riding at the time.- Oppy

Very good game tonight by the Strikers. Have enjoyed Richardson too, but in general seeing players like Botha, Pollard, Samuels, Gayle, Narine, Malinga etc is great.

Great for the spectators and great for those young Aussie hopefuls to play with and against.

I agree Tom, I'm really enjoying the big bash, it's the only T20 comp I watch. I said to a mate I thought Nathan Reardon would have a big series as well, he seems to be living up to his natural talent a bit more now, Strikers are a pretty handy all round side and tough to beat. I can't warm to Botha to be honest (hate spinners with suspect actions) but credit where its due he certainly is giving a harder edge to the Adelaide teams which they needed.

Bern, Franco his shop is in da bloody Brunswick now, compredai Grand Sale. How's South Africas form, a T20 against NZ this Boxing Day coz the Aussies wouldn't tour Sth Af on one of their Boxing Days so they wont tour here on our Boxing Day and the New Year test in Sydney that help pay to run the game in this country. Cricket Australia's response Go and Get effed you'll never play on the MCG & SCG again in a test and I agree, SA you johnny come latelys.

Find a finger spinner with a true action now. Each of them has a chuck from what I have seen, be it one that goes the wrong way, or that quicker delivery...muchos dubious lately :-)

The local Sri Lankans always make being there interesting after the initial boxing day hype disappears.

I might pop along to day 4 for a looksie in the MCC or AFL members.

Its hard to watch cricket at the G when you've been spoiled with Adelaide Oval for so long. Will be interesting to see what AO is like going forward with the changes being built now.

Hope they remember some toilets near the bars unlike their Western Stand debacle.

Totally agree Tom, think justifying Murali as ok was the precedent that is responsible for a lot of them to be honest.

Jackson Bird looking good, line and length with a little movement either way. Another long termer for the baggy green.

What sad news the passing of Tony Greig is after a short battle with lung cancer. I know he's not Australian but he's been such a big part of Australian cricket for such a long time and cricket won't be the same without the big fella.

RIP Tony Greig

Indeed Doug, will miss him needling the Ausssie commentators.

Also means we are stuck with Healy for longer til new replacements come along, bring on Gilly and Huss to fill the void...and piss off Heals.

P.S.- so much for getting to the cricket on Day 4...

As a QLD'er I'm obviously not crying myself to sleep that the sky blues are struggling but it has been a bit of a shock how bad things seem to be there. Players leaving left right and centre and continued poor results suggest all is not right behind closed doors. Brett Lee certainly not known for making controversial statements so if he feels strongly enough people should take notice!

Tuned in to watch the Renegades vs Strikers last night on TV, and it still had me just totally frustrated watching Murali and that his action can be considered legal. Congrats to him on his record and good luck to him, but he'll never be a patch on S.K Warne in my mind with an action that suspect. They even changed the rules for him - more than once!

To make it worse, Botha and Samuels also played in the same game and were excellent contributors with the ball - and to say their action's are also questionable would be an under-statement. Where's Darrell Hair when you need him!?
