James, over the course of the past 50 years, year in, year out, bookies would be the biggest sponsors the sport has ever had.

They've been around for quite a number of years, I've always found them pretty good to deal with.

They made it difficult to take money out and since then I didnt use them again and I found their original website terrible, it looks better now. They continually pester you with text messages and emails. I might be tempted to return when I have the right dog to sting them with though. Jeff how do the deductions work, I notice it has a cents figure next to each dogs name, is that how much will be deducted from your dividend if the dog is scratched?

The fact that people are saying that the bookies are going to get stung to often means that they will probably achieve there required result. In order to sting the bookie you need to have the dog, and with the oppurtunity to get a decent NON-TAB bet on you also need to hope that there isnt to many people in your race that are thinking exactly the same.
This will probably strengthen the NON-TAB fields for awhile whilst people start seeing how good they are against the books. The down side to this could well be quite a few NON-TAB class dogs having to nom for TAB meetings to get a start. Dont look at this weeks fields and say my dog would cream them, wait till youve nommed and see if you achieved wat you set out to achieve, you may just find this time round the bookie may survive country racing, shit JEFF may have to dust off his bag yet.

Peter, that is correct. If your ticket has a face value of $100, and the deductions are $0.05, then you will be paid $95.

On one race today the deductions have to be at least $0.16, meaning you will be only paid $84.

If the winner is showing odds of $2.00, after deductions the real odds are $1.70 approx.

My advice to punters would be to see your local bookie, show him the betezy odds, and seek FIXED odds, after the scratchings have been declared, that way you get paid what is on the ticket, unless there is a late scratching(rare).

This is going to cause a lot of disputes, and unlike local bookies, betezy is beyond the control of our stewards.

Mal, still got the old bag and board, see's some use the odd Melb Cup day.

I'm afraid the old days when bookies wouldnt leave Moss Vale to go to the horses because Mossy was too good are long gone though.

Ok thanks Jeff,
in my opinion deductions if the reserves are scratched is a complete rort and as you say you can never receive the true odds they are quoting. For example one of my dogs is quoted at $4, when the 9 and 10 come out her odds will drop to $3.32, then if the $3.50 favourite happens to be scratched...down to $2.59....heaven help me if there is another scratching, will be starting close to odds on. It can only possibly be a maximum of 8 starters so why should they be allowed to make deductions if a full field of 8 starts?

I dont know I just smell a rat with betezy moving in here, I might be wrong but why wouldnt they offer a fixed odds market on a race at Wentworth Park richest race of the year?? something is up

Every winner at Potts Park yesterday paid greater odds on track than what was quoted. I have not bothered to check every runner but any punter who does their research will see.

Not entirely true Gavin,
The dog that beat mine in race 4 was backed into $2.80 s.p and I recall seeing the favourite quoted at $3.50 in the morning and it wasnt the 5

True Peter.....Shes Shy was quoted 4.00 with a deduction of 16 cents.....$3.50 was bet on the day.

Oh well it was only 9 out of 10.

I suppose this service will only give owners, trainers and punters an early indication of price, but generally you will get better on the day (if no scratchings).

If betezy wants the business they will have to do a bit better to steal the market. The bookies at Potts Park are fairly reasonable so I certainly wont be using Betezy unless they lift their game. Maybe they could offer best of fixed odds or s.p + 10%. Quoting 10 runners and then deducting the fixed price every race when the reserves come out is no way to get business. then you have to go through all the bs to take your money out..I'll stick with the oncourse guys for now

Peter

I've never had trouble getting money out? I just go online, go through the withdraw money section and it hits my account, it doesn't happen as often as I'd like is the only problem I face!! lol.
