I got thousands of these stories...and I love hearing other peoples too! Moreso the good ones than the bad.

My good old mum plays Lotto religiously...30 years or so. One day she's in a hurry, goes to newsagent throws the youing bloke the card, tells him her numbers & off she goes. Lotto being on 2 nights a week, she watches first night...no good. Next night it was on her & dad sit down...numbers come out one by one, after getting first 5 numbers they are jumping up & down waiting for next number...no good!! BUT, first supplementary comes out & its the 6th number...BINGO...a quick check of the ticket just to confirm those numbers that have been used for last 30 years & the old man spots that the ticket has only been put on for 1st night not both nights, cost them around $60K :(
Poor old mum rings me all upset I tell her chin up old duck, your luck will turn. Two weeks later at the local RSL she wins the badge draw...$14K!!!

Not $60K but it softened the blow a bit

its the 1980,s and im waisting my life hanging round the pub and punting all day saturday's any way one sat morning my mate says he has a strong 100 2 1 tip yere right i say Ha ha . Anyway by the time this race rolls around we are both up about 500 so im feeling real game and half fullm of soup, so we both back a horse called Abariddy i had 100 each way in a race called i think the oaks. Anyway for the whole race the call on the radio doesnt even mention this horses name till about 100m out from the finish , the caller says" and abbariddy gets the split on the rail and abariiddy sticks its head in front on the line and wins the oaks" Well you could imagine my friend and i are prety well chuffed at 100 2 1 what s the payout gonna be ? , but turns out it didnt start atthat price on the tab , it was actually 250 2 one, sorry fellas mine is a good luck story . Any one else ever backed a horse at 250 2 1 and got a winner ?

I remember that day. It was October 1986 and was a 3y.o Group race. Broadreach was fav. I was at Merrylands RSL at my sister's wedding reception. I walked to TAB to have $10 each way. Them days that was 20 units each way. Cut off was 5 mins before race or advertised starting time. I missed by 10 seconds and watched it win and pay $185 for the win on NSW tote

I too remember. It was the Caulfield Guineas and I was 10 years old. Back then I had a lot more time to study the form, it was much easier when you didn't have work and kids etc. Anyway I had picked out Abaridy awhile before hand and had asked dad to put $5 eachway on it for me but we had been out and we missed it. Still haven't forgiven him it. It was not long after I had backed a 100-1 winner and bought myself a colour tv for my bedroom and spent 100 on the pinball machines when they were 20 cents a go.
