Marmion was a fierce chaser with explosive early speed which saw him lead in the majority of his races.(in March 2011 he broke the opening split track record at Traralgon, and in the 2011 Shepparton Cup heat ran a second split of 11.18 BON). He won 30 races, won on most Victorian tracks from 300m (Healesville) to 515m (Sandown), and won from every box. Marmion made the final of four group races in 2011: Traralgon Cup, Shepparton Cup, Ballarat Cup, and was placed third in the G2 Healesville Cup. In 2012 he won the feature race "The Cannonball Sprint" at Geelong. Marmion was a durable race dog competing from the age of 19 months (his first start was in the VBIS Maiden series at Shepparton which he won by over 9 lengths) to 4 years and 3 months (in his last campaign he raced in the 2012 Shepparton Cup and the Ron Nestor Memorial). He had 74 starts, for 52 cheques, and retired sound. Marmion has a wonderful temperament, and was a perfect race dog. He is impeccably bred, tracing back to Melbourne Cup winner No Intent on his maternal side. Every dog from his litter who raced, won, and it was no surprise that he was as successful as he was.
