ABOUT Banjo Boy

Banjo Boy is a group winner from a group winning family. He brilliantly won the Cranbourne Cup defeating dogs of the calibre of Keybow and Inncent Till.

His family is proven over many generations and includes the super star SWEET IT IS who is also out of the brilliant producer Off Springer. To date Off Springer has produced numerous group performers including Sweet It Is, Grandeur, Echelon and Echelonic Action along with many other city winners. Her first three litters have amassed in excess of $1.55m in prize money.

His grand dam Skullring was herself quality chaser and she too has produced numerous group performers. Her daughters have also produced the likes of Spud Regis, Walk Hard and Classy Maldini demonstrating how potent this dam line is.

His trainer and rearer Ken Virtue describes Banjo Boy as, "A once in a generation chaser. A naturally instinctive and brilliant dog with a  fierce desire to chase".

Performance

From the moment Banjo Boy stepped onto the breaking in track he proved he was an elite athlete capable of running track records.

Whether a straight track, u-turn track or two turn track, Banjo Boy was able to run track records or near track record times due largely to his blistering turn of pace allowing him to beat the best dogs of his times.

This was reflected in his nomination for two Sandown Shootouts, the only dog to have this honour.

He showed his ability from the moment he stepped onto the track running BOD times including 18.96 on his way to winning the Healesville Derby.

He recorded fast times at all tracks and distances he raced and trialled over including Cranbourne 29.88, The Meadows 29.73 and Ballarat 25.36.

Unquestionably he loved Sandown and Warragul (his home track) where he ran scintillating times, regularly running near record and record breaking times in races and trials.

Ironically the greatest disappointment of his career for connections was losing the official times of  29.01 and 29.14 at Sandown and 25.51 (to equal El Grand Senors track record) at Warragul due to a vet prescribed medication latter deemed by the RAD Board to be non performance enhancing but prohibited.

Post this event he proved his level of ability breaking both the 400m and 460m track records at Warragul in trials, the only dog we believe to have done this.

Of the 16 official races he won, 10 were in the best of the day.

Owners/ Stud masters recommendation

There are a number of very strong nics already emerging in mating's with multiple fast pups from litters. Anyone with bitches containing the following should do their research and consider BANJO BOY. These nics are working consistently and will get stronger in the years to come. Mating's to date show that when two or more combinations of the below lines exist on the dam side the percentages are even more in the favour of the breeder.

Where's Pedro particularly through El Grand Senor.

Black Shiraz through Primo Uno and Bombastic Shiraz.

Light of Fire through Solve the Puzzle cross. More recently he has served many Collision and High Earner bitches.

Dams with outcrosses are also producing to him when combined with any or multiple of the above with Kinloch Brae, KST and Hondo Black particularly strong.
