About the KennelStud DogsBroodsBreeding Successes

Rathealy Kennels is a top quality rearing, schooling and resting kennels. We believe that the most important part of a greyhound's career is the way it is reared. If a dog is not reared properly, then it will never perform. At Rathealy kennels, we start taking out pups at three to four months old. We use a quad with a drag and squealer. By doing this, pups get used to noise and they are galloping at full stretch, turning left and right. We believe 10 to 15 minutes galloping with the quad is a lot better than seeing greyhounds in paddocks trotting up and down all day long.

The Rathealy complex is on 15 acres, of which 7 are used for free galloping. On the complex is a peat/grass gallop with traps which we use to prepare dogs for schooling.

Feedings is also very important to us and we believe that a pups diet should be similar to that of a racing greyhound. We feed beef, nuts, fish, milk-also chicken at regular intervals.

We have seen lots of rearing facilities where pups are left in paddocks until they are 12 months old. At that stage they are only learning to gallop and are not developed. Their feeding leaves a lot to be desired. Bad development can lead to dogs being injury prone.

There are cheaper facilities available but you got to ask yourself:
IS CHEAPER ALWAYS BETTER?

Why not give us the opportunity to give your dog the chance it deserves.
