Condolences to his family and friends.

In somewhat of an understatement, the sport has lost a legend in both racing and definitey breeding terms.

Rest in Peace - Paul

Had the pleasure of many a chat with Paul about all things Greyhounds. He was always respectful & giving of his time. Quite a gentleman & definitely dominated the sport for years. His breeding knowledge was second to none.

Rest In Peace Paul.

I remember talking to PAW about Bartrim Bale before he became a sire. He gave me as much of his time as I needed.

Deepest sympathies to his wife and family.

Very sad news. He has left us far too early, at just age 65.

The greyhound industry will be much poorer without him.

His knowledge of the greyhound breed was without peer.

Condolences to his family.

R.I.P.

My condolences to Jan, Brendan and all the Wheeler family at this sad time.

I had the pleasure of knowing Paul's father Alan Wheeler when I was training in the early 80's and met Paul then who was a few years older than me

Both Alan and later Paul were always giving of their time and their advice freely on training and breeding and its not hard to know, from those early times, why and how their family became the force it became.

His legacy and the progression he brought to our sport in racing and breeding is forever etched in greyhound racing history

RIP Paul

Paul was such a mis understood person, the epitome of the tall poppy syndrome.
Those who were privileged enough to know him would agree, a man so generous with his time, only too willing to help others, impart his wealth of knowledge not only for the betterment of the industry, but to the person who took the time to ask for his help.
A pioneer, forward thinker, giver, and such an engaging personality. He gave so many people in the industry help, support and advice so generously. Its hard to quantify the true effects of his positive influence in this industry and the people in it. Someone who truly loved what he did, and was just so much in his element when he was surrounded by dogs.
It is so sad that the industry he lived for, that his active involvement was so far removed from him at the time of his passing due to the actions and attitudes of narrow minded grandstanding bureaucrats. I dont think it was something Paul ever got over or really recovered from.
I am grateful to the time I spent with Paul, the advice and conversations we had over the years about greyhounds, breeding, business, the future of the industry and life in general.
RIP Paul you are a great man. My condolences to Jan, Brendan, Scott and the rest of the family.

You can't do much more than be the best in your field - which Paul did year after year.

Let's hope the dynasty will continue. It is a huge force in the operation and success of this industry.

Indeed, a permanent PW page in this directory would be appropriate, perhaps led off by a wonderful record of interview by David Brasch after his visit to the family property. (Tony - let's ask him).

I was one of those little guys that PAW gave his time and sound advice. Our relationship was business. We spoke about many different aspects of our industry. PAW was a diamond of a bloke, he would have excelled in any field he put his mind to. Quick logical thinking, kind and courageous man.
RIP Paul
Thanks for being a diamond

I sincerely pass on my condolences.

Paul was nice enough to send Greyhound tapes and information to me in the United States after we had spoken a few times.

Following his father's path with decades of hard work and planned breedings, Paul has left an indelible contribution to the industry.
