Hi,
Whats the thoughts on the below test mating between Good odds Herada x Merlot Hayze, is there too much red to consider this type of match up.

Are there any examples of similar match ups with this bitch line already out there or proven even.

Thanks.

I wouldn't hesitate to use Good Odds Harada with her. I think he'll show to produce very handily to My Bro Fabio daughters

.....We have Aston Dee Bee penciled in for littermate Merlot Hayze, who on paper was lesser performed than the other two but was always naturally stronger but didnt have a great run with injuries.
We bred Nebbiolo with Barcia bale which only resulted in one bitch pup, she is only 11 months but looks like she has some nice traits so hopefully the BB influence in ADB will add some value with her....

Hi Nathan,

Congratulations on Bartel Hayze https:/ CLICK HERE .

I don't know about Barcia being a major influence as it was pointed out to me that it was likely Collision being reintroduced by ADB's dam Aston Elle at an exceptionally high 94% within 5 gens https:/ CLICK HERE back into the same damline, that's creating the vigour within Bartel Hayze's pedigree, and it makes a lot of sense as Collision when put over this same damline gave up Good Odds Harada and Feral Franky among other stars https:/ CLICK HERE .

The good news is you may be able to go back to the same Collision well for future matings with her and her sisters if you so wish, with other sires whose dams and sires dams etc., create a similarly high intensity with Collision.

The primary linebreeding in the x path is to Tranquil Flame (which is proven many times over), with this litter through littermates Goddess of Fire and Awesome Assassin.

You have so many options when you buy into a great damline. Really well bred Nathan.

ps. thx Jim P for pointing this out, you really shld be contributing on this site ....I think probably the most knowledgeable person, especially historically on damlines, that I've spoken to. Cheers.

Thanks Ryan,
I dont really understand how the 94% is calculated but would like to learn.

We currently use a third party breeding analysis to get a shortlist of sires and then pick based on traits we think will best suit the bitch. When it works its my pick, when it doesnt its Tracys pick.
Merlot Hayze is in pup to FB and I like Aston Rupee for her, do either of these align with the collision theory.

Personally I like it Steve, I had a look at the match up previously and if the opportunity comes up I would use him.

Whatever you're doing now Nathan, I wldn't change a thing cos it's working.

Basically if you look at the blood quota table below https:/ CLICK HERE you'll see Light of Fire, Tranquil Flame Malawi's Prince, Brother Fox and Waverly Supreme cross duplicated and their pedigrees in Collisions ped go into the 5th generation covering 15 of the 16 lines (93.75%).

So Aston Elle carries individuals in her pedigree that covers Collisions ped at approx 94% within 5 gens and introduces Collision thru these different individuals back into the same damline he was so successful with previously. The idea is to create breeding parallels to Good Odds Harada and Feral Franky.

All you have to do to check new sires is put in their prospective dams going up their sireline.

So for FB here's how Chloe Allen lines up with Collision https:/ CLICK HERE . As you can see only 13 of the 16 lines (approx 82%) are cross duplicated. To breed quality greyhounds you need 14 of those 16 lines in the 5th gen covered or cross duplicated as a first step in my opinion. The interesting thing with the Chloe/Collision nick is that Bowetzel's sire and dam are also cross duplicated if you click on the 12 gen pedigree blood quota table. So that intensity gets to 14 of the 16 lines covered (88%) but within 6 gens (not 5) with a slightly different nick.

With Rupee https:/ CLICK HERE that Collision nick is the same as ADB's dam Aston Elle if you check the blood quota table below with Light of Fire, Tranquil Flame Malawi's Prince, Brother Fox and Waverly Supreme cross duplicated and their pedigrees in Collisions ped go into the 5th generation covering 15 of the 16 lines (93.75%) even tho most of it isn't showing in red. Again a good place to start a pedigree.

I also like to look at x path which I like to be proven and may change with each dfferent dam and like to check each dam going up the sireline for nicks, however with outcross sirelines this becomes irrelevant leaving the sires dam to do all the work as far as nicks go.

Hope I've made some sense. Call me if you need anything clarified.

Would it be possible to get some thoughts on a Hooked on Scotch x Merlot Hayze mating from a pedigree point of view please.

Thanks.

I love that bottom line from Chilli Berger through to Miss Ezmae and the strength it brings.
In contrast my bottom line from Chilli Berger to Merlot Hayze have realistically only just got the 500mtrs.

I suppose the challenge for me is how do I turn that trend to produce a stronger bitch line over the next 10 years and is it even possible.

I really like this thinking but if I had bred a dog that can consistently run 30.00 at Albion I dunno that I'd have the balls to change that formula. The best breeders tend to keep going back to the same well with the same line. In this case that's probably linebreeding Collision.
As I said tho, I do like the way you think Nathan. G/l.
