I like the Cutting Edge x Spin That Wheel litter. The WP , Hallucinate connection is there. The double of HB Commander. Ginger being represented by half brothers BS and SR. The damline comes from the very potent speed line of New Tears , Proper Tears. The same line that produced BMO , Sancho etc. I think this litter will have plenty of chase, speed but also strength from the American influences. Royal Assassin appears in the first five generations and was known for throwing hard chasers. JMO. Cheers

Can you have two goes as I also really Like the Zambora Brockie x Crymelon Holly litter also. Grab something thats already worked, spin it one eighty and put it back together. Why Not. Add in two great bottom lines that produced Lochinvar Jet and Dancing Habit and I think this litter may have a big chance also. Time will tell. JMO. Cheers 🍻

I can not tell a lie. I'm a bit disappointed the two self proclaimed great breeding gurus haven't ventured a guess yet. I'm sure with tbeir tremendous insight and wisdom they'll find something. But then again they don't alqays back up their rhetoric with solid anx tangible results.

Of course it was lol this is the only time Im going to play the game.

11/2/2015 8.59pm

I contacted Darren Puleio on Facebook messenger. Offering to buy the bitch Nicki Fields. With interest in her as a Broodbitch.

On the 11/2/2015 Nicki Fields race record stood at no city wins 18 starts 5-3-3...Sandown Sunday 30.00(m), Cranb 30.67, Sale 37.44, Ball 37.87, War 39.40, Geel 39.05

The substantial 5 figure offer wasnt enough for the owner to sell. However, a snippet of our conversation below.

-

Hi Darren,

Any interest in selling your greyhound Nicki Fields...if so how much would you consider?

Cheers,
Darren

Hi Darren,

Thanks for the offer but that's not enough to entice me. As I said I intend on breeding with her myself when she finishes racing.

I bred her and her mother and she's also named after my wife. Any suggestions on who to go too when she is ready?

Cheers Darren

Fair enough Darren...******* would be my limit on her. plenty of good matches for her...the likes of Barcia Bale. The exciting part to her is veing devoid of Brett Lee and only a distant line of Malawi's Prince opens her up to a wide range of sires.

Thanks Darren

Barcia Bale x Nicki Fields - Hooked On Scotch...

N.B Barcia Bale only had his first crop racing at the time and Fernando Bale was still racing throughout 2015!

I have my own litter about to whelp in a day or 2...in the recent mating section on Data.

Fabregas x Pennybacker

The reasoning is well documented by me in another topic on Data such as the nick between Fabregas and Big Daddy Cool.

Something I didnt reveal though, was the origin of the Fabregas/Big Daddy Cool nick - Peggy May (Bearability/Big Daddy Cool).

You only need look at the breeding of Fab Fit and repeat mating Elegant Eleanor to see Bearability at play in Fabregas with his Kissy Bear dam line.

However, Ive used Fabregas before over Pennybackers mother for the same above reasons...named Rocastle.

Rocastle (1 pup litter) whelped Sept 2017

Broke in Goldenview Greyhound Complex in 20.00 (run home 12.57). N.B my bitch Frieda Las Vegas (20.15). Breaker comment Very impressed with this boy, especially his strength. Casey Dargusch (Golden View)

With pre-trainer Dave Knocker trialed 22.56 Warragul after the last at 16 months (FFA on night went 22.65 BON) rec Aston Bolero 22.07. After first slip around Sandown, Dave Knockers comment Gee whiz how good are you

Being trained by Group winning trainer Rob Tyler.

Rob Tyler comment this dog is a freak! Its scary how fast this dog is...nothing I have in the kennel can go with this dog behind the drag up my straight! My good dogs Zipping Brady (Richmond Riches Maiden winner 30.65), Modus Operandi (G3 Xmas Gift, Wentworth Park 29.85) go 19.25 and 19.30 at best up my straight..nothing has ever broken 19. Rocastle breaks 19 every single time (18.90)

Trialed Richmond 330m 18.50, 18.62 (rec Caviar Quality18.28).

Rocastle first slip at Wentworth Park 15.06 (Zipping Truvy 15.00, Get It Gizmo 15.11)

Tragically Rocastle went amiss and never raced!

Therefore, its only natural for me to put Rocastles 1/2 sister Pennybacker to Fabregas! Its worked plenty of times!

Fabregas = 3/4 Benarkin/Powerhouse (Bearability/Sobbing Sal)
Paper Jet = 3/4 True To Do (Wary Suspect / Worth Doing)
Special Cyndie = 3/4 Cyndies Magic
Prankster = 3/4 Bit Chili
Gable Drum = 3/4 One Tree Hill
Etc

G'day Paul,i quite liked the Moreira x Eminence litter even though it is her first lot of pups.
She is from a nice producing / racing damline & her grand dam being a very handy staying bitch.
I love the Collision cross & 2 x 2 cross that Malawis Prince brings into play, also the Light Of Fire influence.
Sorry mate,i can't put the mating up,but well worth a look.
Cheers mate.

Ryan, where are you mate...oh,..still counting that folding stuff from yesterday, lol.

We are all breeding geniuses in hindsight.

I'd like to put out a challenge. There are 30 litters for sale here on Greyhound Data. Pick one litter and tell us why you think they will be champions. It can be XY theories, city class dam line theories, proven sire to proven dam theories or what ever floats your boat theories.

We can revisit the thread in 3 or 4 years to see just who got it right and what theory they chose. It will be like the longest dog race in history, but interesting none the less.

There are a couple of of self proclaimed gurus, I'd absolutely love to hear from.

What do you think?

Zipping Garth X Blue Tongue Blue.
Well balanced across the breeding bitch comes from a strong litter that through multiple track record holders, Zipping Garth was a freak taken down in his prime before we got to see the best of him.
Could be really cocky and pick the black bitch in the the litter to be the star of the litter.
Either way, fun post to watch and see how all the picks eventuate.

Of course it was Tony, I'm about as subtle as a sledge hammer. But having said that, it could develop into an interesting thread in the long term.

Good to see one of the targets have a stab. To his credit, he has bred some quality pups over the years and is willing to put his money where his mouth is.

The other fella, is living on the glory of a 5th grader he jagged last millennium and has done naught since.

Well the Fabregas x Pennybacker litter I bred and mentioned in this topic has started racing.

De Ferran just won the prestigious Easter Maiden Final at Grafton in a quick 25.39 - EXTERNAL LINK

Buckeye Bullet was raw and impressive winning a Monday night Class 2 city race at Ipswich in 30.91 - EXTERNAL LINK

Proving I'm a terrible judge. The bitch I purchased was completely legless. Unfortunately it's the last thing I will ever have to do with the industry.

Looked up both my picks on GRV and it doesnt look like Im a guru either Dicksy. Fairly moderate results from both litters. Certainly no superstars. Back to the drawing board. Great topic for a bit of fun though. Sorry your pup didnt work out Paul. Breeding is a gamble and if there was a guru out there that could get it right every time I would listen. But the truth is theres not. Cheers

I certainly wouldn't proclaim myself to be a breeding guru that's for sure Paul but we have bred a few well performed types over a few decades & it doesn't matter how well bred you think a litter might be quite a lot of it comes down to proper rearing , education & be in the right hands etc etc So that whatever type of line K9 you may have has the best chance to grow & develop into the best it can be for you. At the end of the day a K9 has to have the right circumstances from the start of its life for it to end up being a top performer on the track. In my time I've seen some good bargain buys turn out to be great money spinners & some expensive selling well bred pups to be quite disappointing. I personally couldn't predict how any of these pups for sale on here end up cos I wouldn't know how well or not they were reared & educated etc etc.

Another smart pup from the litter - EXTERNAL LINK

Congrats to Data member Jack Ogilvie, being smart enough to buy from this litter and then nurtured and crafted by Sonia & Warren Kempshall to run home (5.35) best of the meeting, faster than Fire Legend (5.39) and the FFA (5.38). Not bad for a maiden!!
