Agree that Pestana cld be huge for sire ranks in Australia. His litter is intensely 100% linebred in the x path to Friend Westy/Miss Gorgeous thru different individuals and full blood relations in Rooster Cogburn (in Penske's damline), and Sand Man in Kinloch Brae's damline.

The contribution he cld make in Aus as a sire is as Kinloch Brae did with the 100% intensity in the x path to Max Moss (Which Chariot x Elsie Moss) and any brood bitch that carries Temlee in the x path within 8 generations in her pedigree as Mister Moss (Max's brother) is in Temlee's pedigree in x. This intensity is 3 gens further back being in the pedigree to cornerstone brood Elsie Moss than with Kinloch Brae, yet it is still worthwhile as we haven't got anything compatible in Aus any more than one gen closer in x at best.

The other point is that Pestana carries Stoney in the x path thru Tullymurry Act's damline - Stoney is a rare get when talking intensity. When combined with a brood that carries Roy Trease in x within 9 gens or less he gives up Stoney's sister Mandolin. So there's another 100% intensity in the x path. Superstar racedog and sire Velocette carries this angle in his pedigree in x https:/ CLICK HERE .

Then there's Sobbing Sal in x and the high percentage intensities she gives up with say Light of Fire https:/ CLICK HERE among others. All these niches are easier to identify with outcrosses as they tend to stand out

Pestana as a sire really cld bring multi faceted options to the table for astute Aus breeders.

It always amazes me that people think dogs that make up a minuscule percentage of a pedigree, are from over 50 years ago and 9 plus generations back in lineage, can have such an influence of a pup born today.

It may or may not be bollocks. Explain how a line from True Shadow from the 80s has an unbroken winning run currently winning through Geelong Cup winner Weblec Jet. It may be that dominant bloodlines can survive.

Really interesting you shld bring that line up Raymond and it shld interest us all as it can throw real quality stayers when Light of Fire is recreated thru different individuals.

The reason I say this is I noticed a Sandown Marathon winner from the line in Pride of Fire https:/ CLICK HERE by Light of Fire. So reintroducing Light of Fire through a damline attached directly to the sire of choices sireline is a no brainer. Doing so cld ensure a possible stayer if that niche clicks. Looking further into the pedigree we see Group winning stayer So Busy from this line https:/ CLICK HERE .

Remembering 'reintroducing Light of Fire through a damline attached directly to the sire of choices sireline' being the aim, we see Kissy Bear attached directly to So Busy's sireline and when comparing Kissy Bear's relationship to Light of Fire https:/ CLICK HERE we see different individuals in Light of Fires pedigree (namely New Tears, Second Stage, Princess Diro & Temora Lee) covering a very high 88% percent of Kissy Bears pedigree within 5 generations, therefore reintroducing that Light of Fire niche back into the same damline.

With So Busy you'll also notice the Jindarra Bale damline of her sire Bitablility Bale. This Jindara Bale damline when put directly to Light of Fire produced arguably one of the best 5 dogs this country has produced in Kantarn Bale https:/ CLICK HERE .

So we have So Busy's damline nicking with Light of Fire producing Sandown marathon winner Pride of Fire and her sires damline also nicking with Light of Fire producing the mighty Kantarn Bale. What chance a stayer or at least a 500m type produced if the niche clicks? As it turns out it produces 700m Group dog So Busy.

It's how breeders shld be thinking to produce 500m plus types instead of this 'shutty eye knocky knee' approach that's producing predominantly short course racers atm.

Back to Pestana who cld bring these types of nicks to the table as a sire in Aus.

This link provides a very informative insight into how the thoroughbred analysts go about their business.

There is undoubtedly evidence certain individuals/gene pools transgress multiply generations.

I guess some people want to be educated whilst others want to purely rely on the performance of a sire/dam as evidence of their ability as breeding animals without understanding why they are successful or fail.

Ryan you are providing insightful opinions. Thanks

The answer to your question is right there in your question. It's an unbroken winning line all the way back to great race bitch True Shadow. That's why it keeps producing. It's not because Moopsy is in the X path and Boopsy is in the Y path, 40+ years ago.

Would the unbroken line of winners not suggest, that thats the x-path.
