Greyhound racing lost one of it's great characters with the recent passing of Bernie Byrne.
Bernie originated from Mullingar in Ireland and always had a keen interest in greyhounds.Up[on arrival in Australia, Bernie established a well renown general auction business at Narellan. People came from all over the district each Saturday to enjoy/partake of the weekly sale of poultry, plants, livestock and whatever.
Bernie's love of greyhounds never left him and he enjoyed enormous success especially with the classic winners World Title and Queensberry Rules who he sent to Ireland to race.
Bernie, together with Paul Ambrosoli, conducted one of the first puupy auctions years ago.

RIP Bernie
