I'd 'hate' to know what a dog like Aston Rupee would have run at Bundaberg. Make the current & old track record look like it was held by a city class 5th grader imho.

Bit like Amerigo Man, West Cape, Walkabout Sid, Bogenfel, Carnival Boy, Half Nelson. None of them performed in Open Group 1 class racing, let alone won a Group 1 or ran a city track record like Aston Rupee. However, their genetic make up and what theyve offered to the breed is legendary.
No Easy Beat comes from the famed sire producing dam line of National Queen, Bay Road Queen, Gorgeous Babe I.E. Just The Best, Token Prince - themselves not Group 1 winners nor city track record holders.
Is there a dam line to rival the sire influence of the No Easy Beat dam line? Thats the gamble Im willing to take.

No Easy Beat had around 12 starts, before injury pretty much curtailed his career. The times he ran straight away at Albion Park, suggested very much he was the real deal and would have been lining up in Group racing. Judging his worth against Aston Rupee is a little unfair IMO.
Aston Rupee granted performance on the racetrack has warranted him serving a large number of bitches. But, as history has shown, it guarantees him nothing at stud. He starts from scratch once again. And will like everything be judged by he quality of his offspring.

Yes, "I get that" Darren. Just saying 25.70 at Bundaberg is a "good" run but it's NOT a group dog time.

To put it in context NEB ran that time at Bundaberg after a 2 year layoff from a very serious injury
I think its better to judge him off his 2 wins in the Molly Campbell Silver Dollar Series at Albion Park where he ran 29.60 & 29.65
Track record at the time was 29.38 held by Sennachie
Now they are definitely Group Class times.
Whether he ever would have got to Group 1 class, we will never know, but the times are there and not many dogs can run those times, even now

Sandro said it perfectly Mark. The potential was there. How many start off early doors running 29.60 at Albion? Im breeding to him, on his potential and bloodlines. IMO he was the star of his star litter.

After a back muscle injury that took two years for him to get back, there is no way in the world, that muscle was in the same condition as it was before the injury, plus that length of time without a race, who knows how many tenths it has added to his potential PB there at Bundaberg
So as you say it was a good time, but his actual potential BEST time could have been anything

The 25.70 was before the track redevelopment.You probably could take .3 or so off that on today's times

From what I understand John, the track redevelopment did not include changing the circumference? And therefore the 460m start is still as it was previously?

No it didn't obviously, but it did redo the cambers and level up the Deadly corner at the top of the back straight which had a 200mm or more drop, the substrate under the track is much harder, before the redevelopment a 26.60 dog was going to win plenty now 26.20 to .30 is where you need to be. The track is much quicker now.

Track was top dressed and imagine cored etc, lot more water going on I understand. It has been rock hard since the refurb and water was pooling in places not soaking in. Judging by the way the sand was kicking up probably could have done with another week.

Thinking the majority would love a slower safer track than a lightning fast. rock hard surface.
