Things you do when you've got too much spare time on your hands.

I love seeing this dog in a pedigree (although I'm biased). The names may not jump out at everyone, but it's a "who's who" of Queensland Greyhound racing. There are under 100 pups on Greyhound-data, so it adds to his influence.

Check out the RasX and Line Breeding in his pedigree.

While your at it, have a look at the RasX in Miss Perlita's mums pedigree. One of the great stayers.

it was always going to be the case , the more MONALEE CHAMPION the better. i think it wasnt the case of EB being the key, more so that he carried MC that made him a success in AUST as MC has done in every country in the world as he will continue to be. GROVE WHISPER, CURRYHILL BRUTE were others that have been a success story as well as few others. Just going back 5 generations and you will find dogs like

BOMBASTIC SHIRAZ
BOND
A LOT OF BALE DOGS(BITABILITY BALE ETC ETC)
RAPID JOURNEY
PRIMO UNO
BOOMEROO
ROBUST CHARACTER
CARLISLE JACK
COME ON LLEYTON
CYRUS THE VIRUS
ELGRANDO
MOST AWESOME
NOVEMBER FURY
REGGEMITE
WHISKEY ASSASSIN
SCOTTISH EXPRESS
SHIRDOMS ALARM
SOUTHERN CHAMP
WATERVIEW STAR
ZEALOUS GUY
TAMBRAY GRAVY
TOLL SECURITY
BENNYS TOLL
THUNDER CREEK
SLATER
MHG ETC ETC ETC and it just keeps going

then you have sires like
KIOWA SWEET TREY
BOONES FISNKID
BOMB THREAT
SEAGOLD EXCELL in US just to name a few

which inturn means DL made a very good point in saying how much DROOPYS MALDINI will impact AUST lines, as we have never had the best of the best of IRE breeding in the past and with the amount of MC he has in his breeding should revolutionise aust breeding for many yrs to come imo.

To my way of thinking It's more "HI There",as the older Irish breeders will tell you, make sure you have plenty of his blood in your pups. Paddy.

i think i would have to agree to disagree with that PADDY, without the success MC has on produced for his lines i would say he hasnt been that much of an impact imo. but i would have to say i havent studied IRE breeding as well as some, i think his success has come from MC mostly.... and a wise man once told me to make sure i have MC in my breeding when looking at outcrosses.

My Favourite 500 Bitch at W.P. in the late 70's was a Daughter of Eddy Barry !

Her name was Happy Endo who was a faultless beginner !

She was the female version of Gliders Son !

I recall he was a flapper track champion, as well as being a great registered track dog.

That close line breeding and RasX pedigree was perfect outcross for Aussie bitches.

Larry Hough. He also apparently imported another stud, but my contact cldn't remember its name. He was apparently a chemist at Maitland, and stood Eddy Barry.

Edit: The other stud was Shamrock Point https:/ CLICK HERE .

Raurimu was trained by a ripping bloke in greyhound racing in Kerry Chalker who admired her being walked past the TAB he ran. He later enquired about leasing her and raced her with his clients culminating in the Sandown Cup win.

Don't think I've met a more respected person in greyhounds by his peers or the people he's trained for and got involved into the sport.

Eddy Barry used to be called King Credo before his name was changed.

Born in June 1970, he was a 33.6 kg black dog bred by S. Broderick who put his April 1966 bitch Coil Valley (Wonder Valley x Little Pressure) to Monalee Champion. His studmaster was Larry Hough who also stood Shamrock point at stud in Australia at his property at Woodville, about 15 minutes north of Maitland in NSW.

EB's first litter was born in August 1972 to All Mandy (Island Glory x All Merit) and consisted of two dogs and four bitches. His last litter was born in November 1979 to Pamela Peak (Laurie's Joy x Wonderada).

EB was enormously popular early on in his stud career serving approx. 200 bitches in his first two years at stud. For whatever reason, his numbers quickly dwindled and he only served a handful of bitches in his final year.

Thanks for the info Michael !

As you know in those days breeders actually got value for money because Bitches were served naturally !

Not like today being all about the almighty $$$$$ !

Not disputing that Shamrock Point may have finished up at Maitland, but I do have a vivid recollection of having a bitch served by Shamrock Point at Barry Wards stud on Hastings Road near Cranbourne. Produced some very good dogs the likes of Shamrock Jewel, Shamrock Flight, Proud Paul, Denison Miss, Terimoto, Cee Mee Princess etc.

Yes Sandro and Des, as you stated, Shamrock Point originally stood at Barrie Ward's stud in Cranbourne, along side other imports - Ballybeg Prime, Leaders Champion, Cheers For Akaii, Ashleigh Honour, Ritas's Express, Weston Pete and I also believe Agry

As a complete aside I think that if you wanted your bitch served by either - Shamrock Point, Ballybeg Prime, Leaders Champion or Cheers For Akii it was via artificial insemination.
