Yes and no .
Some race dogs semen can be on the poor side when racing and after a couple of months on the side lines the semen will improve . Each stud dog has different counts and back in the day it was normal practice to let a dog down for a couple of months after they raced .
Each stud dogs has so many variables but as a rule to draw a few ejaculates when racing is ok but a dog like Fernando Bale could get full books once he retires and I guess its a call the owner has to make .
I have known of a few dogs not racing up to their potential once they get a sniff of the female on season flashing her butt in his face and that also reminds me of a story but I will keep this one for another day

My point is the modern day greyhound is evolving into a super hybrid from all parts of the world ..
You will find over the next 5 years the US Blood influence will be thoroughly entrenched in our lines and you just need to take a good look at the amount of American Based sires getting used by the very best breeders in the business in Australia today .
We have now at our disposal the VERY BEST AMERICAN SIRES and this is somthing we have never had in the past ....

Poor comparison Grant Don't get me wrong Texas Gold was a freak, I witnessed some freakish runs in person at went coming from positions so far back it was crazy but 2 things that were always going to put people off 1. He was a slayer, when was the last popular stayer 2. He's chase was questioned more than once

Oy vey...I didn't ask for a science lesson or lecture on breeding...I asked a pretty simple and straight forward question...seeing it wasn't answered, then my conclusion can only be...there, at this time, hasn't been one...IF there has just name him...simple...NEVER said F.B. wouldn't be a success...NEVER questioned his abilities...Maybe Geoff or PAW or Ryan or A-G have a dog in mind...without the lecture...
I can't see why a great sprinter like Fernando Bale, being related to another good Wheeler sire in Jarvis Bale can't be a future major influence in this country

I think the thing that surprises me about Fernando is his early pace.
The American dog as a rule dose not have the early pace our Australian dogs do but this bloke does .
I am very interested in using him with some of our females maybe the likes of Xylia Allen and Dyna Willow will go to him !
