Some complete muppet has been caught live baiting in SA. It's idiots like this that will mean the death of the industry.

If found guilty, he should be jailed, plain and simple. What an abhorrent, disgusting selfish act.

Yep, hopefully it is all just a rumour and not true..
However if true. I hope they throw everything at them, big fines, jail time and lifetime bans.

Hopefully deters people from continuing and thinking about it again.

If ever there was a case for it to be introduced more widely, that's it and the time is now

Some days I think the industry does a great job in trying to close itself down

Take note....powers that be

Anyone who is licenced in the industry knows what the risks and penalties are for themselves and for the sport if they are caught live baiting

They should be dealt with as harshly as possible

However, our authorities need to address the Finish On Lure proposals more closely

Now that there are more of these safety lures being introduced they are far quieter than the traditional lure, the squeakers are not loud enough to switch the dog on and they don't get to finish onto a lure - so there is no incentive or no reward for chasing hard

Our administrators need to come to grips with this and give the trainers the tools for assisting the dog to chase to its fullest

Its that kind of negligence from the top that encourages trainers to go to illegal means to get their dogs focussed

Its as much as their fault as the trainer who gets caught

Time that administrators took more responsibility for it instead of listening to the whingers who don't want the FOL

i dont no what this means

South Australian greyhound racing is in turmoil following allegations of a trainer practicing in live baiting.

On Thursday night, various media outlets were reporting the participant as multiple group 1 winning trainer Troy Murray, one of the sports most decorated conditioners.

Among Murrays list of achievements are two Adelaide Cup triumphs, the first with Miss Spicy in 2006 and again with Golden Night in 2020.

Murray had a number of greyhounds engaged in Thursday nights Angle Park program which were all sensationally withdrawn by order of stewards on race morning.

Greyhound Racing SA (GRSA) released a statement on Thursday saying that following a raid on a property on Wednesday a participants licence and registration was suspended immediately.

Unfortunately if history shows us anything, it's that even if these dodgy trainers get caught and are found guilty. They simply put the dogs in their partners name and things will continue as if nothing happened.

Here in NSW,that is no longer possible Paul under the Racing rules set out by GRNSW / GWIC,once an inquiry has started, essentially greyhounds cannot be transfered into a Trainers partners name.

In SA,to the best of my knowledge,GRSA,controls the welfare side of things as well,as does WA.

Again,to the best of my knowledge, there is no such rule as we have here in NSW,in regards to,a Trainer under investigation, transferring those dogs into their partners ( wife/husbands),name,but they do have to put forward a request to transfer them into a partners( wife/husbands) name, but it has fo be approved by the Controlloing body,so no guarantees that they would allow that, considering, the seriousness of the allegations.

I dare say that if the allegations are proven,GRSA will be well aware of the ramifications that could follow from the "anti's",if they gave that permission.

Just my opinion.

The ground swell of Anti Greyhound rhetoric towards the new track here at Purga in Queensland is very concerning too. I said it before and I'll say it again, the industry only has a few decades before it's banned completely. It's ridiculous decisions by our very own participants that will bring about its demise sadly.
