Can anyone advise if there is anything you can do to get a dog trapping as it previously did (loss of around 0.10 or 1.25 lengths) but sound in every other aspect. The dog runs top heat.

Has been checked out & found to have nothing wrong. Is there any supplements etc that can be used under NGRC rules or advice anyone out there can give.

Always found that a dog who lost its trapping ability has a physical problem. I n nearly every case the prob was in the dogs back. Get the dogs back stretched, that usually sorts it.

From another sight the topic of stretching dogs came up, it appears there is nothing in the rules regarding stretching out dogs at NGRC tracks only an embargo on the use of liniments, which has been in place for years, I remember the track vet Bruce Prole used to smell the dogs at White City, but I don't recall him ever withdrawing a dog, he would just issue a warning.

i think they are more concerned that if you injure the during a warm up or stretching the dog and you hurt the dog it cant run so the track lose a runner so they its not liked thats what i make of the rule book i just read it to make sure

Doubt if they could enforce any such rule.

Trainers are responsible for the health and welfare of their dogs and warming them up and stretching is a normal part of training and preparing a dog for racing. IMO if it is a rule as such I bet its never been invoked.

personnaly i would stretch a dog out the day before but ur dog should be off its bed a fare bit with exercise so it wont injure him when running we all need a warm up before most exercises but the dog more so

i know alot of trainers have a load of dogs and it maybe inpossible to exercise every dog every day so a lite warm up should nt do any harm as long as u know how to do it as i have seen many dogs get hurt in the wrong hands

just my thoughts on this

did everyone get my email

Right guys. Just wondered if everyone trying this could name their dogs to let us see the effects. I have tried versions of this before and it hasnt worked for me but not exactly like this before. Would be nice to get some proof. Not saying ths doesnt work but i beleive proof is in the pudding. My dog is not one you want to leave in boxes as al he does is kick the back of the traps. If we leave him in there he will smash his hock.

Thanks

the main dog we had trouble with was VAGAS MAX aug 02 u needed to do this for this dog to win he was lazy look at this dog on this site a look at his form how did he go from for instance,

30th jan 05 480 open finished 5th time 29.54

6th feb 05 280 open finished 3rd finishing time 17.16

then i we did this method
12th feb 05 480 open 1ST finishing time 29.91
look at the remarks vqaway,wide,aled

he then pick up a injurying at the kennels and was not doing to well check his form out and see were we did this and see were he won every first he suddenly got vqaway or qaway

but when he didnt run his best look at the comments i have helped others with this not naming dogs not fair to the owners out there

from his comments he never seemed pooor from traps though. You really think my dog Knockhimbelle would trap after this. We have tried absoloutlry every thing bar using other dogs, and like i said we cannot wind him up as he will break his legs the way he kicks out.

Thanks mate, i appreciate your email and your idea. However i think i may be simply screwed with my dog. I think the main reason personally he doesnt trap is because he kicks off at the traps. He never did this when he trialled for us but he turns into a nutter. We think it could be the trap at our track as the having slide down doors rather than open close. This gives him a gap to kick out at. I think we may take him for an open sprint somewhere with a longer run to bend and open close door traps. He has massive early when he doesnt jump out and stop. Any ideas on keeping a dog calm in the traps at the track. At home he goes in the traps fine and dandy its just the excitement of racing.

Cheers for your help so far mate.
