The plans for the new Cronulla Park track in Queensland have been published in the March Journal, it looks great doesn't it?

Looks great Sue - hopefully it will be ready by the time my next litter is ready to race. Do you know the timeline for the track?
Cheers,
Tom

Tom I think I've read somewhere that they expect to be racing there in June of next year.

Great news for Qlders and all dog folk.

Will it mean an end to Albion Park racing.I haven't kept up to date but the number of meetings proposed would surely mean a track will have to go?.

Dave Irwin and Robert Smith proposed this 3 track setup with The Hunter Valley Racing Club in 1999 and we got the Gardens instead.

Is there any proposed accomodation on site for carnivals etc. ?.

Glad to see some GOOD NEWS for Qld.

Jim the Brisbane club will exit Albion Park and race at the new complex, the trots will remain at Albion Park.

That is a good point re accommodation for carnivals etc and something that will hopefully be looked into, there is certainly enough room on the 10 hectare site to accommodate it.

Oh and the third track (straight) is not for racing but a slipping track for licencees. The Capalaba straight track will continue conducting straight races.

A Really impressive setup! The sooner they get started, the better.
This will make some major improvements to the racing in Qld.
Congratulations to all involved in this project this far.
Once the foundation work on site starts, then this will start sinking in and it will be exciting times for all in QLD and Northern NSW.

Looking closer. Just right of the maintenance shed and trailer park, it looks like catching pens are provided.

With the grandstand, a tierd seating area like Sandown gives better views for the tables at the rear.

Looking at Google Maps getting into the course via Kingston Road will be easy but exiting via Compton Road to get back to the freeway will be a bit tricky.

Unless you are expected to get out back onto Kingston via Compton and double back via Parramatta Rd/Balmain Rd to get onto the 'right' side of Compton Road to get back on the freeway

Aside from that issue it looks like an impressive complex and right in the middle of an industrial complex so it won't bother any residents and a stone's throw from the main arterial road system

Parramatta/Balmain Road??? Think you're still caught between two States after your recent visit Sandro lol.

Below is a link to a map which shows how easy it is to get onto the South Eastern Freeway (M1) which takes you straight into Brisbane.

Just thought Sandro, are you looking at a NSW or a Qld map?

It's about 30 mins from my daughter's place.
So, if I'm compelled to go up there, I'll have something to do.
As it's in the middle of an Industrial precinct, maybe they should hold their meetings on Thursday & Friday twilights, being payday and all.

I think Sandro is pointing out that there is a nature strip in the middle of Compton Rd which means you can't turn right..unless they remove it as part of the development you will have to turn left into Compton Rd.

If U turns are permitted at the Compton Rd/ Kingston Rd intersection it won't be a problem though. Been that way often enough but I've never had to double back on Compton Rd so I don't know if you can.
